First trip. Help. Water pump not working
2/3 of a tank of fresh water loaded for our first trip out. Antifreeze/siphon hose valve off/closed, bypass valve off/closed, electric pump on...no water pumped !
I have tried every combination of valve off valve on I can think of and still no joy.
Tried dropping the antifreeze/siphon hose in a jug of water, valve open, all other valves closed and it drew the water up the siphon hose about 5 inches and it sat there... No joy. Any suggestions? I have come to the conclusion it is a faulty pump but I hate to think that a brand new trailer would leave the factory and go through a PDI (pr delivery inspection) at the dealers and the problem not be found.

If it only pulls water part way up with that short hose then there is an air leak in the suction side somewhere. Either a partly open valve or a loose fitting. A pump will prefer lifting air over heavier water.

Is the pump pressurizing the system or just continually running without stopping?

Check the hose clamps on the inlet side of the pump. You can also open a faucet to eliminate any back pressure from the system until the pump primes itself.

The first time we tried to use the water pump on ours we had the same problem. In our case the hose from the water tank up to the pump was about 10 inches too long, and was kinked. I did a field 'repair'- cut out that extra length of line and clamped it back together. Worked fine after that.

Home from the weekend with no water, I will start troubleshooting tomorrow and I I will let everyone know the problem once it is located. I could just take it back to the dealer as it is not even one month old but I will only do that if I require parts.

Had same issue during 1st camping trip with 264BHW, found that hose clamp next to pump from fresh water tank was bad, looked just fine and seemed tight, but after replacement all better.

Also check the filter screen housing. The housing on ours fractured a few months after we got our trailer. It would not suck (well maybe it did) water very well. To get by for the weekend once I diagnosed the issue was to wrap the cup portion with electrical tape. Make sure the O-ring is seated properly, threaded on correctly (not cross threaded), fractures in the clear portion, etc.
If it will not pull from the tank or the siphon tube, the issue must between the pump and the diverter valve (FW tank/siphon valve).
Let us know what you find

I have a very similar problem with the Shurflo 4008. The pump will run continuously and not pump water unless I open a faucet to relieve the back pressure.
I had the exact same symptom when trying to winterize this weekend. Hose in the antifreeze and all the other valves closed. The pump would pull the antifreeze a few inches out of the bottle and then it just sat there humming away.
Things I have tried:
Cleaned filter screen (wasn't dirty)
Tightened all lines
Totally replaced pump (new pump did the same thing)
I know I have no leaks on the downstream side as the system will stay pressurized for weeks while in storage. My pump will even do this after it is primed during regular use and the accumulator tank seems to exacerbate the issue as well. Short of replacing all the valves and lines on the incoming side I can't find an air leak. I have read of a few of these issues with the Jayco's which I am assuming all run the same Shurflo 4008 pump and I think it may be a pump issue. But I am sure there are a lot of people out there with no issues so maybe it is just a hard to find air leak.
Let us know what you figure out. Maybe it is the cheap-o plastic valves on all the incoming lines. Our trailer did not do this for the first season. Only after it sat for a winter.

Problem located and remedied !
1.
I closed both valves to the water heater, opened the anti freeze bypass valve and fresh water inlet valve...would not pump.
2.
Removed screen filter for the third or fourth time and applied a smear of jack's formula multilube to the rubber gasket. Reinstalled screen filter. Water came up higher in feed line but still not pumping.
3.
Opened antifreeze filler valve and sucked on line drawing water up into both line and pump, sealed end of line with thumb and observed water did not flow back therefore no water leak. Closed antifreeze filler valve, turned on pump and all was working.
4.
Drained water from tank so feed line was empty, refilled tank, turned on pump...did not draw water.
5.
Got under TT and used strap ties to hold water line up to bottom of TT taking out all sagging in line...SUCCESS, all is now working!
Thank you to all who contributed.

Thanks for the update Did you ever think that having too much hose would be a problem??
