First trip. Help. Water pump not working

2/3 of a tank of fresh water loaded for our first trip out. Antifreeze/siphon hose valve off/closed, bypass valve off/closed, electric pump on...no water pumped !
I have tried every combination of valve off valve on I can think of and still no joy.
Tried dropping the antifreeze/siphon hose in a jug of water, valve open, all other valves closed and it drew the water up the siphon hose about 5 inches and it sat there... No joy. Any suggestions? I have come to the conclusion it is a faulty pump but I hate to think that a brand new trailer would leave the factory and go through a PDI (pr delivery inspection) at the dealers and the problem not be found.

If it only pulls water part way up with that short hose then there is an air leak in the suction side somewhere. Either a partly open valve or a loose fitting. A pump will prefer lifting air over heavier water.

Is the pump pressurizing the system or just continually running without stopping?

Check the hose clamps on the inlet side of the pump. You can also open a faucet to eliminate any back pressure from the system until the pump primes itself.

The first time we tried to use the water pump on ours we had the same problem. In our case the hose from the water tank up to the pump was about 10 inches too long, and was kinked. I did a field 'repair'- cut out that extra length of line and clamped it back together. Worked fine after that.

Home from the weekend with no water, I will start troubleshooting tomorrow and I I will let everyone know the problem once it is located. I could just take it back to the dealer as it is not even one month old but I will only do that if I require parts.
