General / Random Jayfeather Questions
Hey Gang,
So my wife and I are considering downsizing out of my 'C' to something cheaper and less complicated. Needs to sleep 4 w/o converting anything to something else. I'm looking at the JayFeather line - either a hybrid or possibly the X213.
I'm looking to keep my weight to a max of ~5500 pounds and my length to 24-26'. I've never towed anything substantial before so I'm not looking to get in over my head or over the cargo on my truck.
Is the JayFeather line a good line? Are they made well? Do these trailer run the risk of the floor turning to mush? Any gotchas I should be aware of?
The X213 seems enticing but that's an awfully large slide off the back. What kind of slide system is it? Is it reliable? Definitely adds a layer of complexity I'd rather avoid (in a perfect world), however it gets me out from under the canvas at a weight and length I can stomach.
Thoughts?

I really wish I got some feedback on this one. I'm comparing a Roo w/ a leftover 2018 Jayfeather Hybrid. I guess I'm just going to have to wing it !

I have a 2016 jay feather 26BHSW, not a single issue and pulls like dream behind my half ton truck.
I honestly couldn’t be happier with this trailer, I would not think twice about purchasing another one. The only changes that I’ve made to it are replacing the uncomfortable queen short mattress for a standard queen memory foam mattress and putting a cabinet door under the rear bunk, so I could easily access the storage area even while my son is sleeping in it.

Well that’s the benefit of the jay feather! You got me curious so I had to look at the sticker on the trailer, weight from the factory was 5024# and it has a cargo capacity of roughly 1200# so fully loaded it is still well below what the truck is rated for on the important factors.
When I bought I was a well informed buyer and new exactly what weights I was comfortable towing with the truck I had regardless of what a salesman told me.

We are generally happy with our 2017 Jayfeather 25BH, however the laminate floor is pretty weak (soft in spots), but Jayco is going to fix it under warranty.

We love our 2017 Jayfeather 23 ft. It is the rlsw model. Chev 1500 Siverado pulls it easily and has been very trouble free with nearly 150 nights and lots of miles.

We bought a used Jayco x213 in March after selling our hybrid camper. So far we are very happy with the x213. It seems to tow well and the construction seems to be better than our Roo was. We like to bring our bikes so the front storage/bunk area is great. We also like that the bunks are large and we have two sleeping areas that are separated if someone is having trouble sleeping or there are snoring issues.

We are finishing our 3rd season with our 2017 Jay Feather 22BHM. It's 26.5' total lenght and weighs in at exactly 5500# ready to camp.
Absolutley awesome little trailer. We've drug it up and down the east coast now 3 times plus many local trips totaling ~10K towing miles and over 250 nights. It hasn't missed a beat.
There is a thread here titled "Soft Floor Mitigation" that you should read before buying a feather. The laminate floor is known to develop soft spots from heavy foot traffic. Many of us have taken preventative measures as detailed in that thread.
Otherwise, I highly recommend one. Ours has been perfect.
