Generator

Have yet to get a generator, so I thought I'd throw this question out...Honda 2000 or Honda 3000?

Read this whole thread. You will learn more than you ever wanted to learn about Generators, A/C, hard start capacitors, etc. Mostly at my expense.

I'd say that if you have a 13,500 btu AC, I'd get a hard start capacitor and a Yamaha 2400 watt. Second choice, I'd get a Honda 2000. 3000 watt is just too big to lug around.

If AC is important then twin EU2000 would be my choice. If you don't need AC then a single would be perfect. 3000 is just more than I want to manage.

The weight of the EU3000is is significant. It is also the class leader in sound. Choices choices choices. I made mine. I put a wheel kit on the EU3000is and I ramp it up to the back of the truck. It lives there while we camp. Done.

Ok thank you everyone! AC is NOT a consideration, so based upon all that I've learned we will go with one 2000. I really appreciate all the advice!

If you are going w/ the EU2000, get the companion model. It has the RV 30 amp twistlock electronics built into it. Your trailer will plug directly into the EU2000i Companion without needing a separate dogbone.

If AC is not a consideration, you can buy a 53db 2000 watt champion for about $400. They are equally as quiet as the honda 2000 watt is. They don't have the same specs. Champion will not handle the loads that the Honda will. Honda can handle surges for 30 minutes. Champions will only handle 2000 watt surges for a few seconds... But as long as your needs are under 1700 continous watts, than Champion makes a good match.

I have the Champion 2000 watt and for the most part it works for our needs....but I have gone ahead and purchased a Honda 300o, that one is going to stay in the truck because it is heavy to lift by myself.
