greasing EZ-lube axles

Can someone educate me on greasing EZ-lube axles? I have never done it before so I read the directions from dexter. They say to remove rubber cap connect grease gun to the Zerk fitting and add grease until the new grease is seen around the Zerk. I have pumped over 30 pumps and still don't see the new grease. What gives? Please help with this. Thanks

Hi , first of all is any grease coming out of your grease gun ? What should happen is after you pump , the old grease that was in the bearings should be pushed out by the new grease you pumped in .
What I would do is get a paper towel , and pump the grease gun on to the paper towel and see how much grease comes out if your gun , i think that is the problem , let me know .

If it's the first time that the bearings have been lubed using this method the hubs will take a lot of grease. If you're going to use a grease gun pump slowly as it's not uncommon to blow the rear grease seal and contaminate the brake shoes with grease. The best way to grease the bearings is to remove them, inspect them for wear and repack them with a bearing packer or by hand. I see that you have a 2006 trailer and if this is the first time that the bearings have been greased I'd suggest that they be removed for inspection and repacked.

30 pumps??? You better take the wheels off and clean out the drums, springs, linnings, etc. You only need one or two pumps a year at most.
