Has anyone upgraded to 12v A/C?

We have a 171BH

AC is super load and only dumps air, can't aim it anywhere.

Go to thinking, should I just invest in a new plenum or rip it out and replace with a 12V AC?

If anyone has converted over to AC was it simple?

Yup there are a few models out there, but not sure it is feasable without stepping down 110v's to 12.

In the mean time, I have ordered a new Plheumn from Lippert (Furrion)

The easy button is to go with the new plenum. I do not know anything about your AC model or plenum. One thing to keep an eye on is to ensure the supply air (cooled down air) does not short circuit into the return air section.

Our 23B has a 15K AC, that has two air drops on the side that can be aimed. It really does a great job cooling our HTT. Only downside is how noisy it is.

Can you post the make and model of your AC? I would like to review how the plenum works.

I didn't know either. But here's a link to them: https://www.thervgeeks.com/12v-rv-ai...ioner/#dometic

I don't think less than 7K BTU would do a good job of cooing, even in a Micro. Truck cab? Yes.

I replaced the original downflowing Furrion air distribution with the front/back version. I don't think it is quieter, but it keeps the bed area in the 166 much cooler. I hope you know there are two models, and the one you buy must match the one you have (manual or electronic controls).

Thanks for the responses

New plenum arrives tomorrow, will prob get it installed in the next week or so. Not in a hurry as we are not using the rig right now.

I have to say, i do really enjoy camping when the AC isn't needed at all. LOL
