How does heat/furnace work?

We are learning about our 2012 Jay Feather Ultra Lite and can’t figure out how the heater works. Help and thanks!

Need some additional information. Do you you mean that nobody showed you how to set the thermostat? Or do you mean that you'd like to understand the sequence of operation of the heater, how the safety controls work? Or do you mean that you know how it is supposed to be operated, but it just does not work right?

The thermostat in my 195RB is black. The toggle arm on top is very difficult to move as is typical. The arm is an on/off device. Use some grunt force to move it to the left. The arm on the bottom is a relative temperature control. Turn on the gas, make sure the ignitor has some electricity (battery is OK) and make sure the gas line is purged by lighting the stove.

Our first time using ours we thought we were going to break the little lever (it's that tight).
