How to wire electric tongue jack

I bought an electric tongue jack and figured it would be easy to wire to the battery; however, I have discovered that there is only a positive wire coming from the electric tongue jack.

Can anyone advise how to wire this to the battery with only having a positive lead?

it is being grounded by the body of the jack...the 3 washers that they provide are suppose to "cut' into the frame and create a good ground

If you have Atwood power jack they supply three 'star washers' designed to remove the paint off the "top" surface of the jack flange, and the bolts will remove any paint in the three threaded holes of the TT A-frame completing the ground.

In the case of the Barker power jack, they recommend placing the 3 internal tooth lock-washers "between" the jack flange and the TT A-frame surface. With the Barker installation it's best to first remove a little of the A-frame paint at the lock-washer location (had issue with BIL install).

Both ways are effective in creating a ground as long as bare metal was exposed to/by the supplied washers.

My jack is a Stromberg Carlson Product. The instructions mention to use lock star washers and to ensure a metal-to-metal contact between jack and coupler. I am assuming this means to put them between the frame and jack mounting plate?

Would it hurt to use them above and below the mounting plate just to make sure?

According to the Stromberg instructions (a little confusing) the lock/star washers go on top of the jack flange, because the instructions have you placing the jack through the A-frame first, then they reference adding the bolts/star washers.

It sounds like the lock/star washers are in addition to insuring that metal to metal contact took place (jack flange and frame). I would scrape some of the paint off on the two surfaces.

But then again, probably wouldn't hurt if the lock/star-washers were between the two surfaces. ON EDIT: Depending on type of fastener.
