@perfpix- we have been investigating cabinet lights as well, please let us know how yours work out.

attached is a picture of my simple shelves I built- I used 1/4" particle board and 1" x 2" furring strips. I tried to make it as simple and inexpensive as possible. As you can see there are now 4 shelves, put together with glue and a brad nailer. The top shelf will just be for those infrequently needed items. I took out the hanger rod as it was just in the way.
