Is the Exhaust on YOUR Atwood G6A-7 Water Heater Half Covered By Sheet Metal?

The U tube exhaust on my Atwood G6A-7 hot water heater is half covered by a piece of sheet metal. Is your G6A-7 exhaust also half covered? Is this OEM from the factory? It sure seems like it since the sheet metal seems stamped rather than cut.

However, I have what appears to be a back pressure problem. The U tube is completely clear, so I'm just checking to see if this half-covered exhaust tube is by design.

I'd contact Attwood. Many times flu's are baffled to help speed up the discharge flow.
