Hi Tom. Our Jayco doesn't have any insulation bats. One thing to consider is if any dampness gets into the bats, they may not dry out in an enclosed space and their insulation value becomes nil. They would likely have to be removed and replaced. Some forum members have had different kinds of leaks that would have saturated the bats.

Well I finally finished the fresh water tank issue today.

As I said earlier I used 3/8 inch bolts to secure the 4 cross bars that support the tank. I also rerouted the intake hose for the water pump so it no longer runs between the tank and the coroplast. I did have to add several feet to the hose.

Getting the coroplast back into position wasn't as bad as I thought it might be. I was able to find and reuse the original holes to secure everything.

I made only one cut in the coroplast from side to side just in front of the axle. I used RV underbelly tape from Amazon to reseal the cut. Seems to stick well so far.

During the repair I noticed overly large holes in the floor where the tank connections enter under the large drawer below the gas cooktop. I plan to seal that area. By the way that area is a mess. Obviously no effort whatsoever was made to routing the wiring and plumbng neatly.

Did you happen to add any additional bars or other support for any of the tanks? I assume that the black and grey tanks are held in by a similar setup?

We too have the large holes over the top of the fresh water tank on the inside. It is open to the underbelly of the trailer and I can feel cold air coming in from it. I have thought about using some fiberglass insulation to stuff in it or some other kind of foam. This will still allow easy access to the hoses there and other access if needed. Just trying to keep bugs or anything else out even dirt... Crazy though with the 15,000 miles we have put on the trailer and even with Sedona AZ red dirt it was actually pretty clean under the cabinets! So may not be as big of a deal as we/I was thinking..?

That 6" hole in the floor was one of the things I had our dealer fix on our PDI. It did look like there was some kind of foam around the hole on the tank, but I had them tape it up with black tape, and it's been good for 10 years.

I wasn't watching for support on the black and grey, but I think they are just edge supported, perhaps because they are smaller, and the ABS may be more solid. This pic was to show the tank heater, but note that no cross members are visible.

I didn't add any extra support but may do so later. If I do I think a single piece of angle aluminum located on the tank centerline and outside the coroplast bolted to the frame on each side would be more than adequate.

Didn't remember to check the grey and black tanks until I had already taped up the coroplast.

I did notice that the grey tank sensors are located on the front side of the tank. I also noticed that the grey tank drain exits the tank on the front then does a 180 toward the rear. I would have preferred it to exit on the rear to make completely draining the tank a bit easier or faster.

Yes, this is what the black/grey plumbing looks like on the 166.

Thanks for the schematic on the black/grey system Don . That really helps in understanding how to properly dump now. I usually try to dump with the nose high a little bit for the best drainage ..........looks like I will have to go nose down from now on ! Makes it challenging when the dump station at a campground is uphill on the way out of a campground (yes , we had that this summer at a campground in NY, and wondered why the tanks did not seem to be draining fully !) . Answers a lot of questions !
Thanks !

Yeah, nose down, slightly high right would be the best. Hard to always be "best."
