Jayfeather 29Y battery hook ups

How can I tell which wires are the positive and which wires are the negative. Currently the single white wire is connected to the negative terminal. Three black wires are conected together with a wire nut to another single black wire that contains a 30 Amp fuse which is connected to the positive terminal. This seems like it's backwards ?

It’s wired correctly but not very attractive.

It is wired OK...

just for your info if BLACK and WHITE cable colors are used the BLACK is POSITIVE and the WHITE is NEGATIVE.

If RED and BLACK wires are used then RED is POSITIVE and BLACK is NEGATIVE. What you sometimes see with the battery connections is the mixing of the RV wiring world being mixed up with the AUTOMOTIVE wiring world that you are probably more familiar with like most of us are.

To double check all is correct in your current hookup find the stamped "NEG" or "-" symbol on the battery case and hand trace that battery cable to make sure it is connected to the trailer frame ground connection that is close to the battery regardless what color it is..

Thanks for your help. I was headed out to hook up a battery shut-off when I noticed the set up. I had changed batteries last year and assumed I hooked them up the same as the previous owner. To make matters more confusing the white wire has a red connector which hooks up to the negative terminal. It's completely different than any other battery hook up I've had experience with. Thanks for the replies. Hopefully it will start to cool off in Southern IL in the next couple weeks and we can head back out to the campgrounds.
