Lite/ ultra lite versus stick and tin poll
There is another thread about lite trailer versus conventional construction. The opinion goes from one side to the other.
I would like to get just for the fun of it the scientific .... answer about the value of lite or ultra light construction versus stick and tin...or vice versa
done in respect of everybody's choice.
If the delam, was caused by your negligence ( lack of maint. water intrusion ) please tell us
Problem or not dont be shy , tell us who built your model ;-)

We have a 2 year old WH 26SRK. We love it and have towed it just under 10,000 miles over the past 1.5 years. Out West to Glacier, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, RMNP, Smokies, etc. Also northeast to Acadia and many other trips.
We did those trips pulling it with a 2006 F150 5.4L. Worked well. Could not have done it without the advantages of a "lite" unit.
Now we have an F250 and have ordered a small 5th wheel (Eagle 291RSTS). Our WH looks like the day we took delivery and we have had NO problems. We took care of it and was rewarded with a very good trade-in value.
BTW, the Whitehawks do not have a fiberglass panel. It is Filon.

Traditionally, one describes a fiberglass with a gelcoat as fiberglass. Filon is more rough and one can see the fibers.

The other tread didn't ask for the board members to vote or to let say participate , the other thread had just an handfull of participant I was trying to draw more attention with the poll... I miserably failed to do so
Some peoples dont like to expose themselves to the critics, so voting can be another way to voice / share experience without involving emotion in the discussion. Two similar thing aren't always equal

Can't vote since I have only had my Trailer since June last season and it's a 2013. Not old enough to vote but for the record no problems so far.

I can see it but can't vote. Maybe the poll is closed? How long did you make the poll open for when starting the thread?

I should get to vote twice, I had two trailers that had delamination problems. both was less that two years old, One was a Jayco and the other was a Coachmen.

I think all this points back to proper/reg. maintence from day one. Once water gets in the first time the damage is done and seems to spread or become more aparrent over time.

The two trailers that I had with the delamination problems, was not do to water damage or lack of maintenance. Both Jayco and Coachmen made that statement after looking at the trailers. I think people just needs to own up to it, like it or not, the fiberglass trailers has the potential to come apart do to the nature of it's construction.

A family we regularly camp with has a 2008 hybrid, not a Jayco. The floor became very soft in high traffic areas, not as a result of water intrusion. He beefed up the affected areas by putting plywood and 2x4`s under the floor, not sure how he attached it all. He also experienced delam on one of the bunk doors, that was likely from water intrusion. They continue to use the unit, and use it frequently.
