Maiden Voyage

We took our 2014 White Hawk 21 FBS out for her maiden voyage this past weekend. We had one little hiccup before we left with the refrigerator. My DH unplugged the trailer Thursday night and unfortunately didn't check to make sure it switched over to gas. We went to load the fridge on Friday before we left and it was hot. It took a few tries but we finally got it to switch over to gas. In the meantime, we had to find ice chests and stop for ice to keep over food chilled. Other than that, everything was perfect! We hated to breakdown and head home. We are already planning our next trip next month.

I find that the propane flow to the fridge engages quickly/consistently when I first light up the stove, beading most of the air from the propane lines first.

Thanks for the tip. We figured it was because it was new and the gas lines had not been primed yet. The fridge had only run on electricity prior to then.

I will always do that each time you leave the propane turned off for a while... do as Jmooney said and you'll get it to start quickly after... If you try starting it only through the fridge, you might be there for a little while!!!

I had the exact same issue, and solved it in the ways mentioned above; run the stove for a minute to get some gas closer to the fridge (especially if the gas has been off for a while in storage) and stand there until the fridge fires on propane (don't just slide the switch and walk away assuming it fired correctly). I can hear mine light off from inside, and I always walk by the fridge vent outside when we stop for breaks to make sure it's still going. Ever since that first trip, I get kind of OCD about making sure my fridge is working properly.

Yes check it when you have stops along your road (especially on long runs).... One time on my previous TT, I had a propane tank filled in the morning before we left for a 2 day road trip back home.... turned on that tank because the other one was getting low (and at $45 a 30lb fill up...I decided to only fill one...as the price at home was around $20).

We stopped around lunchtime and after I had filled up the truck, I did my usual run around the combo and noticed no sound coming from the fridge vent...

Got inside, light was flashing... tried turning it on...nothing....

Tried turning the stove on...nothing...

Went to my propane tank... the knob was in the open position...knocked on the tank...sounded weird... lifted it...DAMN empty... WTF!

switched to the other propane tank...same thing... damn!

Luckily the service station offered fill ups...so I filled up the one that was close to empty... and had the other one checked by the guy... it was leaking from the valve... he said that the guy who filled it up earlier in the day might have damaged it in some way!
