Mattress upgrade for X23B

Hi everyone,

I recently traded in my 2013 Jayco X17Z for a 2016 X23B. I noticed that the bed mattresses in the X23B are thinner and less dense than the ones in the X17Z. Even though the X23B have the "teddy bear" fabric, they are less dense and when sleeping on your side you can feel the platform underneath, which was never the case in my X17Z.

I called the dealer to see if I could purchase the X17Z mattresses they used in 2013, but they told me they are not available anymore. I believe they were 6" and the new ones in my X23B are 4".

Can anyone recommend a good place to buy an upgraded mattress? My X23B is a hybrid which means the tent ends fold out and as a result the mattress must be able to fold in half for storage when traveling.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Scotty, we have a X17Z as well, but I found the mattresses still too thin and hard. We purchased some 4" foam mattresses from wallyworld and put them on top of the original mattresses. Very comfortable. When were done, we put down the dinette table and fold the foam mattresses in half and they sit on the dinette bed perfectly. It is a little awkward folding and moving the foam around inside, but once you get the hang of it, it makes a big difference.

Good luck with whatever you try.

We put the egg-crate foam on our X23B mattress and really like it....

I got tired of trying to pad the bunk ends in my X20E the last two seasons. I've gone back to old trusty Air Mattress this season which was absolutely wonderful my last trip out. Made me wonder why I'd try anything different to begin with.

Our strategy was as follows:
Layer of foam squares that connect together, about 1" thick from Walley World
Jayco Foam Mattress
Jayco Heater Pad
3 or 4 thick sleeping bags

and then, and only then could I barely feel the platform underneath. I'm a big fella..

Problem then, I was about 2" from the bunk end ceiling.

I have wasted good money on the Blue Gel filled foam thingy (3" thick)
We wasted more money on the egg carton type foam.

Now I am back to a simple 3-4" air mattress and it's never been better for me.

I put the mattress from my homes bed in my camper and bought a new mattress for my house. Ikea offers decent mattresses for 3-600 bucks. Why buy all them pads and whatnot ...

Correction, the DW informed me we use memory foam now instead of the egg-crate. She would know since she makes the bed.....

Thanks everyone! We bought a cheap 1.5" egg crate mattress topper from Walmart, which helped a little, but I think I'll splurge and got a memory foam topper that's 3-4" and see if that helps.

This is the one we bought for our X23B, we just roll it up when not in use and store with our other gear.

We bought a Serenia Mattress from Amazon. It's foam, cost $269 free shipping and the two of us sleep well.

We ended up buying a 2" memory foam mattress topper - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and went camping this weekend and it was AWESOME! So comfy and solved our mattress woes.

Dagwood, sorry to revive such an old thread, but what air mattress did you end up getting? What size it it? The only ones I can find are about 5" too long....
