Mod Advice (Ladder and Bathroom Cabinet)

So I'd like to add a ladder to the back of my camper. I'd also like to add a factory medicine cabinet to the bathroom.

Camper is a 287BHSW. I know that Jayco has the same floor plan in an upgraded model. Do you think they'd sell me the cabinet that normally goes in the upgraded model for me to install?

Can my camper accept a ladder?

Thanks,

X

We are in the process of getting a medicine cabinet for ours from a 28BHBE. Have an email into the dealer to get a part number and see how much it'd be for them to install.

I'll keep you posted.

Looks like the 287BHSW is the SLX model of the 28BHBE. I own the 28BHBE and just checked. Mine has a corner medicine cabinet. But it is NOT a real stand alone cabinet. Instead it is a flat frame with a door that is held to the wall by a series of wood strips screwed in. Then some triangles are tacked in for the shelves. So, if you were to order the "cabinet", you will want to make sure the SLX has the same framing in the exterior wall and bathroom wall to support the wood strips.

Same as to the ladder. The framing of the wall needs to be checked to make sure there is a series of backers to fasten the ladder to. I assume the service department would be able to contact Jayco and get the framing plans for your unit based on the VIN. Good luck.

So I contacted Jayco about buying the bathroom cabinet. They wanted almost $1000. Uhmmm, no.

Can you snap a couple of pictures? Sounds like it's like a built-in. I was thinking we could have through-bolted into the closet wall and then done our best on the outside wall but it sounds like that's not how it's made.

Found one:

Thanks - this is helpful.

That's for the corner one? I'd be happy to have a flat one to go where the mirror is now if it's cheap but matches the woodwork.
