Murphy bed in White Hawk

We are seriously looking at 20MRB which has the Murphy bed fold down over the sofa. Has anyone had experience with this setup? Do you have to take off multiple pillows/thick comforters/etc. before putting bed up and vice versa? Eventually do you just leave the bed down which leaves you without a sofa? Help.

We tend to leave the bed down throughout the day as we prefer to spend time outside. When the kids are with us and they want to watch a movie in the evening we just attach the straps over top of the duvet and pillows and up goes the bed. Its not an inconvenience at all.

Thanks. We bought it yesterday. I'm still a little dubious about it but I'll be finding out. I thought we'd be doing what you said -- leaving the bed down, esp. if we'll be out all day. I can see where a sofa would be nice on rainy days. Hope we have the same good results as you.

Not trying to be smart, but why would you buy a Murphy Bed model and not fold the bed up and out of the way all the time? Why not just opt for a front queen non-folding model instead?

Just wondering.

My husband was really sold on having a sofa and neither of us want to tow a long TT so the Murphy allows us to have a shorter TT with a bed we can walk on three sides of and a sofa. It just requires a little extra effort. I think.

We started with a 19h in 2008 and were very used to the amount of living space inside as the beds folded outside of the trailer. We began looking for a non-hybrid in Sept 2012 (it got to be too much work to set up the 19h) and were prepared to give up the dinette or the sofa so when the 23m was released we were sold immediately because the bed could be out of the way during the day.

We wanted to stay under 25' and we had to be ultralight. We're very happy with ours...storage is tight but we're adapting.

Congrats bosheby!! The walk around bed was what we needed most...we're just too old to be climbing over each other for the middle of the night trip to the loo. The mattress in our 23m was a little on the firm side so we've added a good memory foam topper. It's heaven.

We started with a 19' with no slide out. Very cozy. This new TT looks like a ballroom in comparison. And yes, climbing over each other in the middle of the night was definitely getting old.

I hear you loud and clear. I would have gotten your model had I not been on the upper end of what my truck could tow/haul. It was within spec, but I just like to have some built in leeway. I went w/ the X213 for ALL the reasons you state (coming from a X17z); but truth be told the Whitehawk 23MBh was calling to me VERY hard.

Ahhh within spec. Yes, same here but little leeway with the 4.6. We haul a distance of 160kms - empty - to our seasonal for the summer. It takes a few trips before we're completely set for the summer but good planning goes a long way. The next four weekends are full with prep for setup weekend May 3. Tick tock...

We bought a 23 MBH. We fold bed up all the time. You only need to latch it when traveling. You will love the floor space when bed is up.

just got our wh 20mrb and wondered if 3" memory foam on murphy bed would fold up in place? You seem to be doing it w/out any modification?

We haven't spent any length of time in it yet, unfortunately. An overnight in the driveway led us to the conclusion that we will put a memory foam pad over it. Although I don't personally have experience with doing that on a trip, I got a message from a woman who had put a foam pad on her bed and said it folded up all right for them. Hope that helps.

We have a whitehawk 23mbh with the Denver mattress. We left all our linen on and just folded it up during the day. It fit well. Not sure about the extra foam. We have not needed it but our mattress might be thicker. I really do not know as this is my first jayco

We fold our murphy bed up with the pillows under the straps too...perhaps not 3" but still plenty of room. The adjustable straps seem to accommodate for a lot of extra bedding.

Any tips on organizing the deep but narrow pantry and side of the bed cupboards?

Thanks. I agree with your concerns with screwing into outside walls. But it's something to think about.
