New White Hawk At Home

I'm just getting back to normal after an 8 day round trip to Middlebury, IN to pick up the new TT. 4000 miles round trip, half with the White Hawk in tow.

Quick observations -

Indiana RV Connection is absolutely first rate! This is what all RV purchase experiences should be like.

Very pleased with the White Hawk model. Great build. Quality and workmanship exceeded expectations.

After return noticed minor issue with a broken cable tie at one wheel. Repaired it myself.

Unit tows very well. Encountered 30 mph winds across I-40 in TX, OK & eastern NM. Impacted fuel economy but the ride was stable. I know the hitch was responsible for much of the stability but the wide stance axles didn't hurt.

I was anxious about the 6.5% grades from Flagstaff to Phoenix but all went well.

We now have the White Hawk in covered storage and are preparing for the first trip.

More later.

Awesome, glad to hear about towing well. We also have a Whitehawk and it is good to see other owners.

Good Looking Trailer.

Glad to hear About the towing too. We picked ours up Saturday morning but the dealer is only 8 miles from our house. Just not sure that was a long enougth distance to get a good feel for how it tows.

My unit came with a black tank flush. I was pleasantly surprised that this feature was included. There's no mention of a black tank flush in any materials I had. Jayco must have decided to include this item after the marketing for the model was finalized.

Does your unit have 2 Grey Water Tanks? When we did our walk around I was surprised about the 2 tanks. Not quite sure about the capacity of each tank.

I only have one grey water handle so I assume it's one 30 gallon tank.

Thats a nice looking trailer! I really like the White Hawks.

I'm wondering why you opted to travel that far for the trailer, wouldn't it have been more cost effective to purchase it here in AZ?

Welcome to the White Hawk family!

We've taken ours out once and are really impressed with it! The black tank flusher was a nice surprise for us as well. We have the two grey tanks as well. Made me wonder a little how they are tied together and if that was helpful or not.

We had someone break in and steal our TV while it was getting warranty work at the dealership already. Ugh. Of course, the dealer was replacing the first TV that didn't work on the trailer. So, the crooks got a brand new TV.

Love the trailer though!

I purchased my first Jayco last year and was surprised with the dealer transportation fees to AZ. At first I thought this was some sort of "bump" to increase dealer profits but after some research learned that the majority of all RVs are either towed or driven from the factories to the dealerships. It's common to see transport fees for autos but rarely in excess of $995. RV transport fees can be two to three times that of an auto. I decided then that if I purchased another RV I would find the closest dealer to the factory, make a deal with them and transport the RV myself. I did exactly that. The Indiana RV Connection is three miles from the Jayco factory and doing business with them was an excellent experience. I realized considerable savings with the purchase price alone. Since my new Jayco needed to be towed from the factory, it might as well be towed by me. The entire round trip cost me $.50 a mile so the one way trip from the factory was completed for $1 a mile which is less than half what a transport company could quote.

I realized a significant savings and in doing so could actually sell the RV now as used and make a profit.

I realize most owners can't travel to the factory to purchase their RVs but I would highly recommend it. The only way you can save more money would be to buy a used RV.

The larger span between the trailer wheels sure does stand out in your photo. bet that helps towing as well...

Great looking setup..

We did the same thing as mrnoby 2 1/2 years ago. We had the time available to drive from CAli to Indiana and back for almost a month AND the savings not going with the dealer transport was enough to pay for the gas for the round trip as well as the hotels and food with the trip there. It also gave us a chance to visit several relatives along the way! woo hoo!

Wow, those tt's sure look nice. My grandkids like the idea of separate bunks in the rear vs the 'jack and jill' we have now. Congrats and happy camping!
