Newby Help Request

I will take delivery of my 2013 Flight SLX 184BH next Wednesday. I will be haunting garage sales in the near future for kitchen stuff. Bedding and bathroom stuff is covered. What else can I expect to shop for for the trailer itself???

Thanks in advance,
Chancy

Wheel chocks, sewer hose, water hose, extension cord, silicone spray lube, some wood blocks 2x8x24 for leveling (or something plastic that does the same thing), a grill for cooking outside.
A bag with a few hand tools for tightening various things, duct tape for the things that won't tighten.

I;m sure others will jump in.

A pad and pen to jot down the things you think of that you're missing/like to get/forgot at home. The rest has been covered. I'm sure everyone has their own list of necessities, and it'll be an ongoing, ever changing list.

Welcome to the camping world and don't be afraid to ask how do I? I camped for years and recently ran into a guy I worked with years ago. He full times 7-8 years now and sitting around a camp fire had so many tips on how too do little stuff that I hadn't thought about.

1. A good tire gauge used faithfully on the trailer and TV. Saves lots of problems on the road but you gotta use it every time you move the rig.
2. Check lists for packing, leaving, and arriving. So you don't forget something important, (Meds) easy to forget antennas, steps, hand rails, and stuff around camp. Last minute walk around to check lights and insure all is secure.
3. 2 sewer hoses as one does not always reach. A clear connection to ensure the black tanks running clear. I use a 90 at the ground easier for me to see than the connection at the trailer. A coffee can for the 90 when you put it away as it will be wet. Wet wipes and/or sanitizing soap.
4. 2 hoses one for drinking water and the other for cleaning the black tank and other stuff. A Y connector to hook both at the same time.
5. All the stuff norty1 said make sure the extension is a 30amp cord
6. muti meter for trouble shooting electrical, assorted spare fuses and electrical tape.
7. your manuals so you won't be saying how does that work. Learn the systems in your rig how they work and where they are.
8. lawn chairs? propane match? games? cards? Sun screen? Bug spray? note pad for your own lists of must haves.

Wally World got most of it cheaper than dealers. We leave our 5th wheel stocked at all times with non perishables so all we need to add is the fresh stuff in the fridge and we are out a here.

What a lot of first time campers do with a new camper is to camp in their driveway the first night or two, as if they were at a campsite. Each time you run into the house or garage for something, make note of what it was for; you'll most likely need that for when you are at a real campsite.

Helps make the camp packing easier to know what you need.

It is pretty easy to load up on things that you really don't need!! Crabman's list is a good start. Take a couple weekend trips close to a Walmart. Always have a pad and pencil to list the things you need. Faint ink is better then faint memory. Be prepared to get rid of items that are not being used.!!

We looked at Goodwill, but ended up just picking up a 16-pc set of Corelle for $25 at Target.

The sets we saw at Goodwill (multiple stores) were heavier ceramic.

YMMV

Why not take your household stuff you're using now, put it in the camper and let your wife buy new. You get the camper stocked and get brownie points with the wife.

Good idea however from a wife's point of view here, I have good stuff in the house that would be too nice or heavy for a trailer. I went to Big Lots for many things. Cheap and light.

I tried that and my wife fussed at me for spending money...and the new stuff was over 50% off! Go figure.

I have to admit.... I did buy new dishes for the house and put the old Corelle set in the camper. However after somehow not latching the cabinet door tight before a trip home, those Corelle dishes ended up mostly broken
