Opinions on a Jay Feather LGT 311

The DW and I just purchased a new to us 2008 Jay Feather LGT 311. We used it once before we winterized it and so far we really like it.
I have looked all over this forum and other forums to get information about this TT.
It doesn't seem like it was a very popular floor plan but it works for us and our special needs son.
Does anyone have any information on this TT, like things to make it more user friendly or if it has any good or bad quirks.
Thank You.

Welcome to the Jayco Owners Forum ffnremtp11! Not sure how many members here also own the same model as yours, but hopefully someone will be able to share their experience. Only one time so far? I bet you can hardly wait til Spring. Congrats on your 'new' tt!

ffnremtp11,

Welcome to the Jayco forums!

One of my sister's has a 23B Jay Feather, and another sister use to have a 29N LGT Jay Feather. Just a couple of thoughts come to mind:

* Check the tire clearance with the top of the wheel well under loaded conditions. This current thread will give you a little insight: http://www.jaycoowners.com/showthread.php?t=4821&page=2

* Watch your ground clearance under the sewer drain, on some models it can be an issue hooking up the hose on irregular ground surfaces.

* Like any TT, check all the roof seams, vents, windows, side marker lights, etc, twice a year to insure that the caulking is in good shape.

Here are the published specifications on your 2008 JF LGT 311:

Weights:
Unloaded Vehicle Weight 6,555 lbs
Hitch Weight 820 lbs
Gross Vehicle Weight 7,850 lbs
Cargo Carrying Capacity 1,420 lbs

Measurements:
Exterior Travel Length 32' 11"
Exterior Height w/AC 125"
Interior Headroom 78"

Tank Capacities:
Fresh Water Capacity 36.5 gals. (includes water heater)
Gray Wastewater Capacity 52 gals.
Toilet / Black Wastewater Capacity 22.5 gals.

Following is a pdf file link to the 2008 Jay Feather brochure if you want to print it out: http://www.jayco.com/pdfs/prod_brochure_filename_36.pdf

I have a question about a modification and I am not sure if I should attempt it. My TT does not have a tube bumper like a lot of other ones do. Is it possible to add a class 2 or 3 receiver hitch to the rear of my TT so I can use a cargo carrier for additional storage. Suggestions of how to do this would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum
If you search this forum you Will find some terrific rear mods. I can't think of any right now but I've seen several this week.

ffnremtp11,

Even though the TT is out of warranty, I would still contact Jayco Customer Service (have your TT VIN ready) and get their imput...., also ask them what brand/model chassis the TT has and you can contact that manufacture as well. Some of the lite weight TT frames are very limited on what can be added to them without possibly compromising it's integrity.
