Red face Plug Connector wire code

The winter destroyed my plug due to current leakage to ground. (my fault) so I had to buy a replacement. After cutting off the old plug I went on line to find the color to connector code and found it on e-trailer.com. Only problem was Jayco did NOT follow the standard code. I had to "ring" out the connections with an ohm meter on the bad plug to get it right. I can only wonder why Jayco didn't use a standard color code. One example was yellow wire to center connection. The standard is purple..... problem is there is no purple. Anyway I'm up and running and it works fine. Still I have to wonder what else is backwards.

kept looking

I just checked another web site and they agree with Jayco. So I guess you just have to keep looking and so much for any "standard"

I had the same thing on mine. Learned to verify what works and put it back the same.

I had to replace the tow connector wring on our TT due to it disconnecting on out first trip and dragging on the highway for a while before I noticed it. I found that it plugged into the trailer on the inside behind the cabinets and was able to order a replacement through Jayco and simply unplugged the damaged one and plugged in the new one.

Since then I rigged up a carabiner that will catch the cable if it unplugs from the back of the car before it can hit the pavement. It takes a bit more time to connect and disconnect, but I don't have to worry about it dragging should it come loose in transit again.

I've never had a problem with mine coming out. The flip door on the TV plug should have a tab that mates with the tab on the plug to hold it in place. The door is spring loaded and should hold it in place. If you are worried about it jarring loose, a wrap of electrical tape would hold it in place.

The spring on ours didn't work and it did not engage. The weight of the cable and road vibration worked it loose and there is no alarm that goes off when the trailer disconnects. The brake monitor will glow red, but if you aren't looking at it you don't see the red light when you step on the brakes. The electrical tape idea might work, but the carbiner is always there and easy to use.
