Possible new Whitehawk

Greetings all JOF members!! I am contemplating an upgrade in TT's next season and I was hoping for some opinions, advice, and/or suggestions. We are looking at a Whitehawk 33BHBS. We also like the Whitehawk 30 DSQB. Does anyone have either of these units, and if so, any input on them? Or, in general, are you folks satisfied with your Whitehawks regardless of model. I don't really see too many Whitehawks while camping, and that is a concern, because they are full of features and options yet are lightweight and easily towable. Can someone shed some light on that? Happy Camping!!

Can't give any input on the two specific models you're asking about, but in general we love our White Hawk. We've only had it for one season, but in that season put almost 5,000 miles on it and, other than a couple of minor (e.g. broken shade) warranty repairs, have had no issues whatsoever. Fit and finish is great and she tows beautifully. We too are surprised that we don't see many White Hawks while camping, especially when we've heard from a couple of dealers that they are extremely popular and they can't keep them on the lot.

We love our White Hawk DSRE 30 we use year around since the winters are not too bad here. We got ours in August and have had no issues except the paint on the front has faded a little (must have been on the dealers lot for a while). No matter it now sit in my shop when not in use. I agree with robkelly the fit and finish is great

We too are considering a White Hawk, specifically a 28dsbh. We have looked a couple and think we have narrowed down the best deal with trade. Looks like an awesome camper.

Love our WH-25BHS - perfect size. Knew it was the right model because:
- Works with our TV
- Outdoor kitchen (use it more than the inside one)
- Bunks ~ great storage space OR short-term guest quarters ("Guests, like fish, begin to smell after three days" Benjamin Franklin)

We love our Whitehawk. Put 8400km's on it last season and it tows great. Love the layout, fit and finish and it has a great deal of storage. Can hardly wait till the snow melts so we can get back on the road.

I must agree that I was dealing with the same issue. I can't even find a Whitehawk to look at here in SC. I've looked at reviews, photos and you tube videos to help me with my next purchase. Our new 28DSBH should be here in April and I can't wait. Being a current Jayco owner I am certain that I won't be let down. Once you have owned a Jayco it's hard to trust in anything else. As others have said, you can have problems with anything man made but I do believe in the product they sale. Good luck with your decision.

pm1stnau,

I love our 33bhbs. Can't really call it camping, but it works great for our family. As I've posted to some in the past, just make sure you want/need as much trailer as you are looking for. at almost 37' bumper to hitch it's a long trailer. With that said, I find it easy to tow and back in. The layout is great and besides a few minor issues and normal warranty issues (nothing major) we love the trailer. I love the back bedroom. Lots of room and gives me the DW our own area. The kids love the bunks and with pillows and stuff, they make them their own little worlds. Lots of storgage and everything is very functional. Love the double vanity in the bathroom too.

What size family do you have? What are you looking for in a trailer specifically?

If you have any specific questions, just let me know.

BTW...if you plan on towing with the explorer...you're going need a TV upgrade :-). I started with an F150 and upgraded to a F250 and couldn't be happier. I know some tow with a 1/2 ton, but I feel much safer with the heavier TV.

Just looked at the 30dsqb and it is the model with the front BR and the rear bunks. With a bigger trailer, I like the second door. Makes it good for loading. I could never understand why the parents get crammed in the nose cone of the trailer and the kids get the bigger room in the back. I like it in the 33BHBS :-).

Happy hunting and let me know if I can help.

Bought the 2014 WhiteHawk 30DSQB in Feb '14.....enjoyed 35 nights and 3500 miles with it last year.....we are grandparents with 5 kids and 8 grandkids....we thought they were going to be lined up to go camping with us...it didn't happen...they had their own lives....last October, we worked a deal with our dealer and traded it for a fifth wheel simply because the WhiteHawk wasn't fitting our needs.....but was it a good TT?...most certainly...dealer sold it immediately to some other grandparents who had a family situation where they had adopted grandchildren and we hear they dearly are loving it.

t2daniel: i appreciate your input regarding your 33bhbs. You answered many of my questions. To answer one of your questions, no, I do not plan on towing anything bigger than what we have now with our Explorer. The lease on my car is done in April of 2016, at which point I plan on getting an F150 with the HD tow package. Truth be told, the 33 is bigger than what I want, but we loved everything about it, it will fit our family for years to come, and it is relatively light. You can't beat Jayco quality, so.........Happy Camping to you and your family!!

I have a 21FBS WhiteHawk. There are many things I love about it. Here are issues I've had (bought it last week of January)
1. the furnace quit working and then so did the AC so figured it was the thermostat. It's been worked on twice. Furnace will work when weather isn't too cold and then won't work when it gets cold. Not currently working.
2. window came off track and had to get service call to get it back on. Another one came loose while going down the road but luckily I saw it and stopped. The frameless windows are pretty but not functional.
3. can't get it to drop off the hitch. I'm beginning to think there is something wrong with the trailer's hitch cut rather than the ball. Can't unhitch without help.
4. several of the drawers won't stay closed.
I was expecting some glitches but I have been truly disappointed in the amt. of time I have had to spend addressing issues in these first 5 weeks of ownership and I'll have to go couple hundred miles out of my way to go back by the dealer and try to get issues addressed.

t2daniel is dead on with his review. We also have the 33bhbs and love it. The back bedroom can't be beat. We found that the front bedroom models were just too tight for us. The kids love the bunks and they are plenty big enough for each to bring a friend. The layout works great also. The only issue I have had is that the shower "tile" insert seems to separate from the wall. I've had it fixed once and just found that its starting to pull away again. Probably the extreme cold affecting the glue. It's very easy to tow. I have never towed anything before and was more than a little worried about towing a 37' trailer. I took it out a few times to practice, and was able to become pretty proficeint in no time at all. Just like t2daniel, I started off with an F150. The dealer told me that I'd be fine with it and it felt fine bringing it home an on our first trip. After researching more and listening to people more experienced than me, and not an RV dealer, I learned that I was playing with fire. I upgraded to an F250 gasser and saw a huge difference. Most importantly I don't worry about weights anymore and having the proper stopping power. The 33bhbs was just a bit too much for the F150. Personally I am really happy we went with the larger 33bhbs in the end. I think that we would have regretted not going with the larger trailer at some point. The Whitehawk is an excellent model. Good luck

Love our White Hawk. Very few problems.

Water line on back of toilet got loose and leaked; fixed by hand tightening.

Fresh water level indicator not working. Could get repaired under warrantee, but
probably will not bother to.

Added a digital thermostat, a new regular home style faucet to the bathroom sink and a new three speed Fantastic Vent Fan.

You will definitely need a new tow vehicle for the trailer you are thinking about!

We like our Whitehawk. No real issues, with the exception of hooking to improper power and burning up the converter and microwave. (my fault)

I've done a bunch of mods to it...but I do that with all my trailers.

I have a 2014 white hawk 27rbok - only minor warranty issues so far. The Jensen DVD/stereo is a piece of crap - have to have another one installed. This will be the third one. Otherwise a nice TT.

So far so good. Just a few minor adjustments on our TT. I just don't like it sitting in storage waiting for the next trip. I try to visit it weekly.

Thanks all, I appreciate the responses. My comfort zone is 20mph - I think. Need to experience it to see the effects on the rig.
