Propane supply issues.

It seems that I have to replace the pig tail hose for propane tank connecting to the regulator on my 2 yr old 154BH. I get a normal flame in the begining but it will slowly fade out after a few sec. This happened last yr too and the dealer replaced the pig tail and it was fine after that. This yr there was no problems for the 1st trip, but on my 2nd trip the problem started. This time I bought a new hose and was back to normal. Does any one have experienced similar problems?

The pigtail has a shutoff valve in it that blocks the gas flow if you break the gas line. Opening the valve too quickly can also trigger this valve to close. A guy at a propane shop explained this to me and also said that you sometimes have to rap the pigtail against something to get the valve to reset. Usually this shows up as a NO GAS problem which is a little different that what you are describing. I'd suggest disconnecting the pigtail and rap it against the side of the tank a couple of times, reconnecting and opening the valve slowly and see if the problem goes away. I now have a "spare" pigtail that I bought trying to figure out my "no gas" problem.

I had the exact same issue. It is a pain in the butt. I have to open my gas extremely slow or the "safety" valve will close. I am thinking of going to a gas supply place that sells hoses and see if I can get one without this safety device.

Look at the pigtail and find a way to remove it yourself. Most likely they can't sell one without the device by law.

I had my high pressure hose replaced in my 154BH start of last season.

My 154BH did that on a trip. I didn't know about the valve at the time, but I felt the obstruction. I took a long drill bit, drilled it out, and blew out the pieces. Problem solved.
