Refrigerator Mishap
Imagine the feeling of bouncing down the interstate for about 4 hours, sticking your head inside the trailer during a fuel stop just to make sure the microwave is still attached to the wall, but instead, you find the frig door wide open, food all over the floor, including a now open container of chip dip that's been rolling from one end to the other... I'm sure you get the picture.
Our 2018 195rb has a 3 cu ft Dometic, like many other SLX's. It has a gray catch that is so hard to press, we would have never guessed it would release the door on its own. But a close look shows it only catches by maybe 3/32", despite being so hard to press. Nothing to adjust, It's just made that way. Door hinges are as high as they can go, too.
When we get back home, I'll come up with some sort of travel latch. For now, I stuck a tension rod between the door and the dinette seat. Happy trails.

I can only imagine the first words out of your mouth when you opened the door .
First thought are these stick-on strap latches that we use to keep the kiddo out of things at home, just be sure it's where you want the first time because they flat stick to a surface. We have them on the stove, outdoor deck gate, wine fridge,....

On a similar note, I once opened the door to a beautiful coating of Olive Oil and various spices all over the place, that's when I came up with the elastic cords used on the deck of our kayaks to help keep things in the wall rack -

What do they have in the NE USA.........."flintstone" roads or was the speedometer stuck?
I forget once to put the screws back into the microwave holding strip.........but it was still in place.

Problem is they do not know how to pave roads in the NE USA!

01tundra; I would take care of an "extra virgin" too. Bungees can be life savers: They all have hooks, so you can catch big fish. Or tame your awning when it is windy.

haha... actually, I think it probably happened along a 20 mile stretch of fairly new, nice looking concrete on I-90 in NY. We just bounced from one slab separation to the next. Bad at 62 mph, a little better at 70, but I don't like to tow a trailer that fast. I guess it was the combination of my Ram 1500 and the 195rb wheelbases. All was smooth as silk once we hit asphalt again.

That is not right! There is no reason the frig door should come open. I would just double check to make sure the door was not hitting something inside the frig. I'm not sure if you can adjust the latch. I have the 195rb and the door seems pretty secure. Not good.

Great, one more thing to have anxiety about while I'm towing!

Sounds like they have changed fridge manufacturers since we picked up our 195RB Baja in 2015. Ours came with a 2.7cf Norcold and the door latch is solid. We've been over some pretty rough stretches of concrete freeway as well but never had any issue with it. 62 is our normal cruising speed as well - also a RAM 1500 TV.

The roads take a beating in the winter and most highways (in MA anyways) require resurfacing every year. The chemicals used in the winter, along with the 10 wheeler snow plows absolutely destroys the roads. By the time they get done resurfacing, the cycle starts over!

I'm guessing if it was going to happen it would have happened during a recent trip on I-78 in PA. I thought I was going to lose a few of the caps on my teeth.

Mine Norgold is 13 years old, those latches can't be locked because the slot-plate has no accommodation holes for close position. Well for the venting position when the Fridge isn't in use.
Now a DIYer can drill holes for a locking position to be able to lock during travel.
Or install a twist lock (square piece with a screw in the center) over both doors which they used on old barns out some matching color. Or a bungee method whatever one prefers.
Funny why they didn't match the slot-plate to accommodate this future.
So I going to drill and let you know how well it works out.

At least it wasn't beer. Now THAT would really p*ss a guy off. If it was a 12 year old bottle of scotch I'd probably have to see a psychiatrist.

It's not just up north. On I-285 in Atlanta we have potholes so deep I drug a hole in my underwear last time I went thru.

DOH!!
We have the "rough road" problem down here too. Ours is primarily due to heavy commercial truck traffic on roads that weren't designed for it (one of the down sides of an oil boom). Lots of the roads around here were bad enough to do that kind of damage easily. Thankfully many of the worst offenders in our common travels are getting fixed. No more need to go 50 miles out of the way for smoother roads!

Every trip out we find another spot for sections of pool noodles. The larger one will not shrink in the fridge either.
