Rolled-up awning still gets wet

We've owned our Jayco White Hawk for 1 year now and we love it. One thing we've noticed is that rain gets inside the rolled up awning while it's parked at the house between trips. Then when it gets unrolled, it has mold/mildew, dirt and rain water all over it. Anybody figured out how to keep the awning dry while it's rolled up?

It's the nature of the beast.

They all wick water in from the seams. Cleaning it several times a year and putting it away dry is the only cure I have ever seen.

Mine is wet when whenever I unroll it after I have not used the trailer for awhile.

Buy 2 sections of 5" plastic gutter and place them upside down over the roll. Notch out the ends so you cover the end roller assembly or plastic garbage bags over the ends.

Here's what a friend did to keep his awning dry inbetween trips.

Wet Awning When Stored - 1 Approach to Help Stay Dry

Very similar to what Tunce the traveler suggested.

Hope this helps to trigger some ideas.
Good luck.

This is similar to what I have done. I use sections of 4" corrugated pipe from the big box stores. However, my awning hangs lower than the RV gutter and it won't rest in the gutter so nothing keeps 100% of the water out. I've found that if I put an 18" length (cut to fit) onto the ends of the awning tube, it stops most of the water infiltration.

try raising it one hole on the stop bolts, The center line should be at or above the awning holding edge just below the gutter

Check out the new trailer life magazine. I believe there was a couple of ideas for keeping water away from the awning to extend the life.
