I would not think so. It would work to help clear any buildup, but I don't think it kills germs. The bleach is safe if used in small amounts and rinsed. Do you have other concerns using it?

As far as the time, I thought I had read that it was bad for the pex to leave it in there for 24 hours....it should be more like 4.....anyone else ever hear that and can verify if that is true?

Stick with bleach. Bleach is the same chemical as chlorine. Sodium Chloride iirc. It is the same chemical utilized by water districts to sanitize the public water as well as the sanitizer utilized in most pools. I use nothing but bleach to sanitize my pool and my rv water system. I modified a siphon type lawn sprayer to connect between a garden hose and my rv that injects 1tsp of bleach per gallon as I fill the tanks and run water through the water lines. Then just let it sit.

You need to use bleach to sanitize the water system. Some people use vinegar in the flushing step to get rid of the bleach smell. The longer you leave the bleach water in the water system the longer/stronger the bleach smell/taste will last.

I have read numerous posts about how to sanitize the system. As i mentioned in a previous post, We just purchased our TT, and i plan to get it travel ready next Wed/thur, and sanitizing the fresh water system is on my list, but I have a concern. While it is nice to have the 90 gal capacity with the 26bh, i have an issue filling the tanks using bleach and then refilling 3 more times to rinse. That's close to 400 gallons of water i would be sending down the gutter. Any suggestions for sanitizing the large capacity tanks?

Option 1 Leave the bleach water in the system for just an hour or two. One rinse is enough.

Option 2 Don't fill the tank the whole way and drive it around for an hour or two so that the bleach water splashes around in the tank. Again only one rinse is needed.

If you are not going to drink the water you can just drain the bleach water out of the system and fill up with fresh water. You will have more of a bleach smell to the water, but not enough to hurt anything.
