Wife wants to know if anyone has actually cooked on the counter top stove and if the back or cabinet wall
got warm or hot as a result. Almost two yrs of ownership and our stove has never been used. Micro, electric skillet,
and Coleman outdoors. We have SLX 184BH. Thanks.

Several trailers, not the SLX, but I've never had any issues cooking inside and getting the walls/backplash too hot. You should be ok.

Ive seen on a few used TTs we looked at where the PO installed a clear plexi glass back splash to protect the wall from splatter. Though not sure how that will handle any heat issues.

We have a 154BH SLX and we haven't had need to use inside stove as we prefer outside griddle or campfire cooking. In fact, today is the second time I have ever turned on the stove as I need to purge the propane lines today. We were also concerned about heat directly next to vinyl wall covering and fine finished wood cabinets (not optimum choices for backsplashes) - I would hate to have hot splashed food damage these finishes. I was going to work out a solution this year. Second...in such a small area, the range hood vents INSIDE....we figured the strong foods smells and heat would make it miserable pretty quick in such a small space. I took a remediation step last year and installed a 5 speed fan in the bathroom vent....but optimally, the the range hood should be set up to vent OUTSIDE. It can, and has been done by other SLX owners on this list.

Cooking on your stove is fine. My stove is slightly different, but I use it all the time.

thnx for the replies. I put slash guards behind and on the side right after we got the 184. I did it mostly for cosmetic purposes as I did in other areas.
we too do the majority cooking outside, micro, or electric skillet as I originally stated. never know though when we might have to use it.
nasty wx season is just around the corner here in middle Tn. enjoy the remainder of the wk-end!

I cooked a medium sized pot of stew on my stove without any heat issues. I plan to add a backsplash in the near future. It will be more for cosmetic purposes.

We've used it numerous times and never had a problem. Lately we got an electric burner but that was mainly because we didn't want to use up all the propane. Using the gas stove is actually easier for us.

We have a 184BH and have boiled water on it many times for Mac and Cheese, no problems here.

184BH here and we use the stove all the time. I got one of the heavy aluminum cookie sheets from Sams and use it as a cover on the stove when not in use. Then when needed we just flip it up to the side and it protects the wood to the side from heat and splatter.
