Soft floor ....to fix or not to fix ?

Laminated Floor Repair.pdf

My WH is still on warranty the floor was supposed to be fixed last week but the dealer was super busy and I agree to postpone the work for a few weeks.

The procedure attached is what they will do, Im not sure how the job will come out.....looks like a disaster waiting to happen.....would you take your chance and living with a soft floor and a bad seam or would you take your chance to have it fixed ? whats would you do ?

How much do you trust you dealer and the guys working for him??
I think I would try to get the factory to do the repair or if it isn't a terrible soft spot not even bother.

So far I cant complain about the dealer they've been awesome, I would buy again from them tomorrow. They told me that they would put their best guy on it , 20 years of experience, but ...you know what I mean lots of thing can go wrong.

The worst part is right in the middle of the trailer in front of the oven and sink, so....

Ahhhh... thats it its decided .I'll let them play with it, If i dont Ill end up with the job one day or the other.....or if the floor remain soft the trailer will be hard to sell....

I hate this floor with a passion......

Thanks for your input

We have a 2012 Prime Time Tracer with the same floor construction and I agree, it sucks! Earlier this season we had a soft spot develop in front of the fridge, and now I can feel the floor getting softer in other areas. Yes, it's lightweight construction, but I will not own another trailer with this type of floor again. It's plain to see why Jayco is now installing plywood floors in the White Hawk line...

The floor issues have gotten a lot of attention on this forum, perhaps they read those threads and made the change, or perhaps there were just so many claims....

It might be instructive to go to Jayco.com and check out how Jayco constructs their TT's. I did before I purchased mine. I don't recall exactly what they said about the flooring, but it seems "plywood flooring" was involved. Matter of fact, think I'll revisit the website to (I hope) reassure myself.

The website says that the Feather has a laminate floor. I am not sure if it is the same floor that was used in the White Hawk. That is my question: Are the Feather and White Hawk "non-plywood" floors the same construction?

Apparently, the 2017 WH has gone to the 5/8" plywood. At least that is what the dealer told us.

Our white hawk 24 Mrs also has the soft floor in 4or 5 spots. They want to send it to factory to fix. Just worried on how long it will take? They have not said what will exactly be done just that it's a big job and needs to be done by experts. Just hate that we will probably need to remove everything in it? Also have no time frame of how long this will take? So kinda nervous to. But needs to be fixed.

I would ABSOLUTELY have it repaired if they are handling it under warranty. The dealer has to fix it right, and you have to approve the repairs. If they don't fix to your satisfaction, demand a Jayco rep.

You might be surprised how good of a job they can do to fix it. A good vinyl guy can make a seamless looking repair.

Homer where are they sending it? To jayco directly that is what they told us. How long will it take? We are waiting for them to give us a date. We will be in Florida till May but they were booked up until March anyway. They are very vague on telling us anything. Are they fixing it like the pdf that's posted here? Did you have to empty entire trailer? Thanks if you can answer any of my questions.

Hello Sharonkay , the job will be done at the dealership, according to what they say they have done a few in the past, the also said that its not very different than redoing a conventional floor.....

I have no clue how long it will take for now. They requested the procedure from Jayco so I am assuming that they will follow the instruction, anyway Ill get the trailer at the dealership tomorrow i will know more then.

On the other hand I dont want to know too much, I dont want to paint myself in the corner, Ill start by assuming that they will follow the instruction and if they screw up because they decide to do differently they wont ben able to say that I knew about it ... so Ill drop the trailer, and Ill wait for their call to go take a look when the floor will be removed, and when the job will be completed.... they are fairly busy at this time of the year but I've asked to do their best to have the job completed by the middle of november

If I can I will be happy to do so, however the dealership is kind of far from home and I also count on them to call me when the floor will be opened.

Sometimes I wonder if I want to see .....

Yes we removed everything from the trailer that is touching the floor. How long it will take to complete the job ? I dont know I imagine 2 to 3 full days ?
