Spindle and seals and maybe axle
Just advised that sprocket and brake seals on our 2010 Jayco Sport 165 need replacing. I have had the bearings professionally repacked each spring so was surprised of the problem.
Was also advised that sprocket may not be replacable and that entire axle may have to be replaced.
Has anyone else had this problem?

Spindle
It is not a "sprocket"; it is the "spindle". Thanks

Why/how did the spindle get damaged? bad/dry bearings? I dont know about the whole replace the entire thing but i'd start at the last place who packed the bearings, maybe they didnt put in enough grease? Is this something that could be a defect w/ Dexter?

There is something wrong somewhere. The bearings are running on races there shouldn't be wear on the spindles unless the bearing are not adjusted right.

Spindle issue resolved.
The threads on the spindle (driver side) were marginal. Our Jayco dealer sent me to Spectra Suspension Center, Mesa, AZ and they cleaned up the threads very nicely. And changed the seals. All of $60.
World Wide RV Jayco service advisor, Bill Grubbs really was great. WWRV uses Spectra for axle work and to speed things up Bill sent me there directly. If the threads could not have been fixed I would have needed a new axle. Big deal as this can take as long as a month to complete. The paper work to get approval for warranty axle work is lenghtly and so is getting the axle.

I still smell a rat....spindle threads don't just go bad....unless someone cross threaded the nut onto the threads...I'd still look into that.

If it smells like a rat it probably is.

You got alot of pressure from the hub/bearings pushing against that spindle nut. those threads, spindle nut and keeper better be in top shape..

If you are replacing the axle most any trailer could benefit with a higher rated axle.
If you are dealing with World Wide RV you have my sympathy.
