Storing at Home and Slides

About six months ago I moved to a home with acreage allowing me to store my RV at my home. It has made maintenance work so much easier to do. It is also so much easier to check on it periodically, to prep before a trip, and to clean up after one.

I have been keeping the RV plugged into 30 amp power and have kept my slides open. It's nice to be able to go in there anytime with everything all setup and functional. However, I have been wondering if there are any concerns with keeping the slides open for so long. Wear and tear from exposure? The RV is not under any trees so nothing is dropping onto it. It does get a fair amount of sun right onto the front cap... Ugh! Already have fade so I wax a lot but just sort of accept it.

Thought about the slides being extended? No big deal? Better to keep them closed?

Either all the way open or closed. I dont think it matters. I leave mine open about 10 months a year.

When you get tired of waxing, here is what i did. Been almost a year and still looks like it did the first day.

Nice! I'm a little gun shy to do that yet since my fade is minor right now and it does sound like this could go wrong if I don't do it right. However, at some point the fade will be bad enough that I will take the chance thinking it can't get much worse anyway. Sounds like a good and inexpensive solution to the problem.

Keep mine closed due to trees above. Trees do keep sun off which is good.

I see seasonals with their slides open all season, April - Oct. No reason you can't keep them open. I would just close them and open them every couple of weeks to make sure they are operational. But that's just my way of thinking.
