Question Tank overflow 184BH

Anybody know what happens when you over fill the gray or black tank?

I ask as this last weekend I was de-winterizing and sanitizing and decided to keep going in my gray take long past the guage showing as full. I finished up and never saw anything as a result.

My guage could be off or maybe it just says full before its actually full. But non the less curious what happens.

After washing all of the dishes one night, I noticed the shower had about an inch of sudsy water in it. I didn't notice anything else. I quickly pulled the valve gate since we had a full hook up site. No more suds.

The gauges on our 184BH are merely a suggestion to what the tank levels may be. I don't rely on them for much of anything.

That is what I thought for gray. Black I ask because I don't care to find out

So what are people doing to know the level of the tanks if the guages are a suggestion. With the 184 tanks being so small, it would be great to know how much room is truly left.

With tanks empty, get a gallon jug and start filling in dumping. Check the gauge after each gallon and take notes. Will take some time, but you will no longer have any questions as to how much room is left after 1/3,2/3, full etc...

My approach while gross, is effective. Just look straight down into the black tank. I have never let that tank get too full (purely out of fear). Also, the black water tank sensors are never accurate on my TT. They always read 3/4 or full when the tank is empty. I've towed the TT with 1/2 full in the black tank (with just clean water and the chemicals) and the sloshing cleared up the problem for a short period of time.
