tub drain cleaning..

Ok, last time we had the camper out noticed the tub would drain ok for the first 3-4mins then would not drain and hold water in the tub. I thought the grey tank was full so I drain it and the tub drained out all the way. next time it was ran same prob and I knew the tank wasnt full so I pull the dump on the grey tank but the tub didnt drain immediatly. it eventually did but VERY slowly. Hou do you removed the strainer in the tub? I didnt see any obvious way to do so and removed the small access plate for the P-trap on the tub and didnt see much there. Need to remove the strainer to get a small snake in there to clear whatever clog is holding up the flow. any ideas?

I have never had that problem yet but you might use a long zip tie and push it into the trap. Draino would also work or a plunger.

I've had great success using a Zip-it drain cleaner in the RV and at home.

Fill the tub with water and then try the plunger.Does some of your family members have long hair if so it is likely snaged on the strainer and knotted up in the trap. The plunger should pull it up so you can get ahold of it and pull it out.

saw a good video on youtube of the zipit and what I was thinking of using but my drain holes (7 of them) are 1/4'' it most and dont think it would fit. I might have some drain-o around the house but scared this may damage the holding tank just siting in there for a while. may get a small flexable wire w/hook to try in the mean time.

TT still fairly new to us and this was the first time we used the tub/shower. I need to somehow get the drain/strainer removed if the clog is a decent size.

wondering if it is vented properly Is it new to you or a new trailer?
Check vent cap on roof make sure there is no obstruction caulk, plastic, bee hive.

Check on the roof to make sure the vent pipe has not fallen down into the tank and air pressure is keeping the tub from draining...

Good idea! I was going on the roof to inspect for my pre maxxair cover install but has been raining all weekend. I'll check out the vent while im up there. Is the cover easly removeable to check with a flashlight or to run a small rod down?

there is three screws that hold the cover on top of the pipe. Remove the caulk take the screws out check pipe then replace recaulk with self leveling caulk all done. Also before you remove the cap take a measurement from the roof to the cap top. possible the main vent pipe is to tall and sealing against the inside of the cap. if so just cut down the main vent to allow more air into vent.
