Vent for Fridge

Went to check on TT at storage this past weekend. Checked all exterior compartments/vents.

Noticed dirt daubers building a nest in the vent area for the refrigerator. What can be used (safely for air flow ) to assist in keeping these critters out?

I have heard of people taking a piece of screen, the non-metallic kind, and hot glue it to the inside of the fridge hatch. Don't forget to do the top vent also if you don't have a roof vent.

The RV parts places sell screens to cover all the important openings and they call them "insect screens". If you buy make sure to get screens that fit. There are many sizes. You should consider covering the fridge, furnace and water heater vents.
The little critters like to build nests in burner tubes where they restrict air flow and the device quits working. No hot water, really cold in the AM (a different season from the one we're in) or worst of all, no cold adult bev's.
My uncle learned about this the hard way when his furnace wouldn't fire. Several hours in the shop (translates into $$$) to discover the dauber nest.

Thank you for the input. I'm all about "easy" things to install. Too hot here to do anything else. Even in the shade!!

These are for the Domestic fridges (20"). You can take off the vent cover and do the job in the comforts of your air conditioned TT. 10 minute job.

I installed camco insect screens model RS500 yesterday that I purchased from Amazon. They were made for the Norcold fridge but make your own measurements to see which screen will fit.The kit only came with 6 cable ties, I ended up using 9 for better security.

Looks good Dennis. That was one of the first things I did when I bought my TT, along with installing bug screens on the furnace and water heater.
