We are looking to downsize

Presently in a Cougar 2016 284rdb 5th wheel bunk that sleeps 10. Want something cozy for just the two of us. First off, I DO NOT like travel trailers but Patti does. Sounds silly but I don't consider the hummingbird a travel trailer. Yep, I know, it sounds silly.
Something like the 16 mrb, 17 rk or the 17 mbs The rk would be last on the list. What do you do about lack of fridge space..... Carry a good cooler to supplement. Like the bathrooms that actually have a separate shower enclosure where you are not shower over the toilet.
And if I am looking at the bed correctly, it is a Murphy bed. Also like the fact that instead of pulling around 12000# and 2100# on the hitch it would surely be just over 3000# and 400# on the tongue... Right now my 8.1 gets +/- 7 mpg so it would love that 3000ish#...
Just curiohs and thanks to any that reply...

msubobcatsrock, most folks upsize The wife and I went from an 18' Coleman TT to our current Eagle HT 27.5 FW. I'm not sure how the "physics" of the gas mileage resulted in a 1 MPG better difference

We got stuck at a campground for 4 days with rain the full four days … that being said, we decided to go larger just for our sanity

The Jayco Skylark is a 21' trailer that has the room inside of a 23 footer. You would have to find a used one though, as Jyco quit making them. We love ours for just the two of us, though it does sleep up to 6 if everyone is friendly and two are very short.

Look into the Class C or B units. Sizes range from really "cozy" to really big.

We didn't go quite as small as a Hummingbird, but we downsized a couple of years ago to a 22BHM and absolutely love it. These little trailers are so much more conducive to just hooking up and going.

Since wife and I are becoming empty-nesters beginning in August, we downsized from a 28ft trailer to a Hummingbird 17RK. We are very happy and even though it seems small the amount of storage and space is more than enough for the 2 of us. We chose the RK because of the bigger kitchen and larger slide-out. We love the Hummingbird.

We recently purchased a 2019 Hummingbird 17mbs as a down size supplement to our 2018 Rockwood Windjammer 3008w. We wanted a smaller trailer to pull with our 1947 Chevrolet show car to car shows with the added benefit of having a smaller trailer for overnight, weekend, and fitting into campgrounds. Love the Hummingbird! We use the 3008w for longer stays and distance pulls where the large trailer excels. The 17mbs pulls very well and is hardly noticed on the hitch of our 2014 Ram dually and is light enough to pull with the show car! Space is relative the to our use, just 2 of us, and gear is selective for the occasion.

SWMBO and I bought a 20 MRB White Hawk in 2015. Have over 20,000 miles on her and we still like it. The lack of storage makes you get creative and you can't over pack. The Murphy bed helps with space.

On the road now, driving across Washingthgin srate acheiving 10.1 mpg.

But, Jayco no longer makes it but there are a few like models.

We downsized last year from a SOB 37' 5th wheel to a Hummingbird 17RK. It's just the 2 of us and our dog and it's worked out very well for us. It's amazing how much stuff we could actually live without and still enjoy camping. And we can get into some of our favorite State Park sites that we couldn't before. Plus the fact that it takes so much less time to wash the thing.

I'll second that. We looked at everything from TT up to Class A buses, and since it's just the two of us (and poochie) the shorter Class C won out. Everything self contained and small enough to drive and get everywhere.

I know you asked about Hummingbirds — we looked at those too for our first TT and decided they just weren’t quite big enough. The fridge, stove, bathroom, headroom all came up short. We went with the SLX212 QBW and, like the Goldilocks story, it’s just right for two. It’s 26 feet, so fits most campground spaces. Only about 5k pounds loaded. We’re finishing up a nearly 2,000-mile trip to Glacier NP and it’s been perfect. Getting almost 13 mpg with the diesel to boot. Might be worth a look.

I’ve had a 17’, 24’, and now a 26’. I really like the 24-26’ size. Large enough to be comfortable if it’s stormy and we’re stuck inside for a spell. Walk-around bed. Big enough tanks to stay a good while before I have to dump or refill. Small enough to tow with a half ton and fit in most sites. Rear kitchen and rear entry work well since food prep and meals tend to be the most common in-and-out scenarios.
