What I have learned so far!
Hello all. I just graduated last week from Flagstaff popup camper to a Jayco Swift 184BH. I am excited about camping without the agonizing setup and take down of the popup camper. I am also excited about the idea of stopping while on the road to grab a nice (non-fast food) meal while traveling, and even sleeping in the Walmart parking lot (that's a phrase I never thought that I'd hear myself say)! Things like that were just not possible in the popup camper.
^^^^^^^ from my first introduction^^^^^^^^^^^^
Now this what I have learned so far about my Swift 184BH
1) the Dandy AC is underpowered when it is over 90 degrees!
2). The fridge needs a coil cooler to increase the efficiency.
----------Probably the most exciting----------
3) My Emergancy 2 stroke 1000w generator runs the AC, TV, Antenna, and a couple of lights, and water pump. Just the AC, TV, and the Antenna use about 650 watts, so I can only use 2 lights at the same time, the lights tend to take about more wattage than I thought it would. But, for a $1000 generator, I was pretty impressed that I could run all of that stuff. That will help with those Walmart stay overs and Rest area lunches.
4) installing a 7 pin connector and electric barked on a Tow Vehicle is a royal pain in the rear!
5) it could use a drawer
6). The beds are hard to find sheets for, so I am making them myself.
This is a great camper and I cannot wait until I get to use it. we will be doing our first run with it in just about 2 weeks. We will be going to OshKosh Airventure, and then off to UP Michigan, then back down the West Coast of MI, then back to KC! Sounds like fun. I hope my Jeep Wrangler Unlimited does ok pulling it!
Cheers,
X
