Where to Jack?

I am not sure where the jack points are on our Jay Feather. It has the BAL/NORCO Next Gen (NXG) frame (same as White Hawks). Underneath, I cannot see a solid frame member like a traditional tubular channel or I-beam frame/chassis. I also can't seem to find the specific jack points in the manual. Surely, I am missing something.

Do you have an enclosed underbelly? I assso, when you say you cannot see the frame.

I have not seen a tt that has specific jack point (to change a tire) it might takes some poking around to locate the frame. Use the suspension as a guide. You need to place the jack under the frame, ether forward or aft of the wheel to be changed. Lift on the frame not the axle.

Yes it is enclosed. When I open it, the only frame I see has a thin "lip"; there is no I-beam, C-channel, or box channel. There is only about a .5" wide lip that runs the length of the frame. Is there a more substantial "channel" or beam up above this material?

Check out the Anderson rapid jack. I would agree with jagiven and use the suspension as a guide.

The Anderson is great for a wheel at a time. I want to jack a side at a time to remove the weight off of the suspension to replace shackle bolts and sleeves.

I use a trailer aid ramp, no fuss no muss Trailer-Aidâ„¢ - Camco

I just pull or back the good tire on the ramp to lift the bad tire

My understanding is that the weight has to be removed from the leaf springs to remove them to replace shackles, bolts, and sleeves. If that is true, then I need to elevate both tires at the same time, lift the side of the trailer, not just one tire, get the weight off of the suspension that I need to work on. Trailer Aid and Anderson Jack do not take the weight off of an entire side of suspension.

To do the work that I need to do, I need to elevate/suspend both tires on one side at the same to relieve the weight on the springs. That is why I am looking for a solid jack point on the frame.

Ahhhh yes now I see what you are up to. Yes the weight needs to be removed from the axles to do pins and bushings. I have been looking at your frame on Google and it is tough to see what you could jack on. I still think close to the spring hangers would be an option but can't say for sure.

The springs are fasten to the Frame. Just in front (or after) of the spring fasteners you can safely put a jack or blocking.

I have jacked my htt up, and noticed the frame flexes at the jack. I keep thinking about purchasing a piece of c channel about 6 to 10 inches long to slip over my frame rails (exposed underbelly). To distribute the weight between the jack and frame. I wonder if a piece of angle iron would do the same for you.

Unless something has changed Jayco keeps saying to jack up on the frame fore or aft of the wheel, and not the axle,

Exactly my concern - that's why I am reluctant. The frame material is so scant that I am concerned about putting all of that weight on a .5" lip. I must be missing something(?). I know I can put the jack under the leaf axle mount, but I am trying to stay within Jayco manual recommendations which say the "frame only." If it were an I-beam or box frame, it would be a non-issue. Maybe I will call BAL/NORCO and ask them.

The lip is more than 0.5" more likely 1 - 1/4" on the NXG frame, that what it is with the first generation Ultra Frame too. Around the axle assemblies it is always stronger.
Google it and you will see a picture of this frame from Bal/Norco.

I just spoke with a NORCO technician. I posted his advice on a new thread.
