White Hawk 33BHBS grey tank(s)

Was talking with my Dad earlier about our first trip this past weekend. (My parents live in their Class A Diesel Pusher.)

He was just completely dumbfounded that my TT had 2 grey tanks. He thought I was mistaken. Told me to get some black spray paint to paint one black. Sent him photos of the tank monitor and of the three pull levers. He said that he's never seen that on the big rigs like his.

Anywho, why are there 2 grey water tanks on this unit? The brochure states only a 45 gal grey water tank. Could it be split up into two tanks?

Anyone else have this?

I had a trailer like this once. Had a "galley" , grey, and black tank. Not sure, but I think the galley was the sinks (kitchen and lav) and the grey was shower. Why it's done that way, I don't know. Only guess is it has to do with fill rates.

Yes it is normal to have 2 grey tanks, one is often called a galley. Your 45 gal capacity is split between the 2 tanks (i.e. one could be 20 gallons while the other is 25 gallons). They do this for space reasons and to balance the weight out throughout the trailer for more balanced towing.

Had a 2004 Komfort with two grey waste tanks. One emptied into the other as there was only one drain valve at the sewer hook up.

Both are 22.5 gallons and are dumped separately by the 2 valves you mentioned. One for the kitchen sink and one for the bathroom ( sink and tub). What I've found is with the valve handle that is longer, it works it's way loose when driving. My guess is that the longer handle bounces more and works it way open. Going to monitor this summer and maybe make some sort of tie to keep it shut. Maybe a bungee or something similar.

I don't have this, but have a question about the two tank option. Could you open both grey tank valves and then use them like one large 45 gallon tank? The cap would obviously have to stay on the outlet, but the water should equalize into both tanks right?

Downside would be you would need to close both grey handles before opening the outlet cap and let some grey water out (between the cap and the valves) - put a bucket under the outlet before doing this.

You could, but then whatever is between the cap and the black tank valve will get mixed with the water in the grey tanks. I really don't want black tank bacteria in my grey tanks. The better question is how the gray tanks are plumbed. If one valve is upstream of the other and you could open 1 grey tank valve that would allow both tanks to work together then I could see that. But again then you are mixing bacteria from the kitchen grey with the water from bathroom grey. Don't know if this is a problem, but I surely don't want black water mixed with the grey water.

Just my thoughts.
