Started towing our WhiteHawk 30DSQB with a 2011 Chevy Avalanche....was right on the max numbers within about 400 lbs....it would do it but I did trade for a 2014 Chevy 2500HD after 3 months...feeling much better and safer going down the highway....don't feel like I'm being pushed with the 3/4 ton.

I tow my 28DSBH with a 2012 F150 with absolutely no issues. I did upgrade my hitch after one very short trip from a Draw Tite to a Husky Centerline which made a huge difference on how it towed. Completed an 8400 km trip to the East Coast this summer and can honestly say I was very happy with how it towed. No sway, no pushing or bouncing and no white knuckles. Just make sure you buy a good hitch with WD and anti sway.

Pull my 29REKS with a Tundra with absolutely no issues, though I did add a Roadmaster Active Suspension to help with the bouncing. As others have said, a good hitch is the key.

you won't go wrong with the Equalizer... I have it on my maxed out Rav4 and I drive with one hand no worries.

ID:	15225op, I tow with the same combination. No issues. But I did add a WDH after I took the pic. I also added the Timbrens to my truck axle. Never sags.

My 2014 WH 30DSRE towed fine with our 1/2 ton Silverado [08], smooth plenty of torque and no sway. Only thing I noted different from our older smaller TT was the tranny temp went to around 225 or 230. GM dealer said that was not a problem but it worried me long term. Since upgraded to a 2010 3/4 ton with Duramax. The new rig is truely the real deal. No issues and you forget the WH is back there. Pulled to the Gulf last winter and returned in ice and snow. Real sketchy conditions for last 250 miles but absolutely zero sway which is important on icy snowy roads.

Hi Mike,

I tow a 30DSRE with a 2012 RAM Laramie 1500. I put air bags on the rear which stiffens up the coils and I use an Andersen hitch which eliminates the sway completely. I only travel with my wife in the truck and no other payload, I know I'm right on the limit for this vehicle as far as GVWR. We also only take what we need in the trailer about 500 lbs of cargo, no water. I have an Andersen hitch and must say that initially it was a little "loose" feeling until I dialed in the hitch settings and now you wouldn't even know you were towing except for the gas consumption. The RAM has tons of power, hauls the trailer like nothing and has great braking but I would think twice about taking this combo through the Rockies. Take your Ram loaded as if you were going camping with a full tank of gas and the cargo/passengers you plan to take camping and go to the scales....that will tell you what payload you have left.
Regards,
Ron

I had a 2006 silverado 1500 with 5.3 and max towing package. I believe it was rated for 7200# towing. I pulled our 28dsbh with a dry weight of 6000#. Loaded with fuel, passengers and cargo I was close or over the GCVW. I also used a Equalizer WDH. The trucked pulled the trailer but had a lot of transmission hunting and the overall experience was less than enjoyable. It was enough that I purchased a used 2010 2500hd 6.0l gas and the ride is much more comfortable and stable with less transmission hunting. I have only pulled a few times with the 2500HD and no WDH or sway control and it was fine. I will be using the equalizer again when I pick up the trailer from the dealer after the repair some minor issues.

My Tundra pulls my White Hawk just fine. I am right at my truck's max payload.
Every other weight is well under max. Trailer weighs about #6600 full.

My truck has a bed cap and bed rug which add about #250. I have DW and big dog in cab and about #150 of stuff in the bed.

A year acini had a 2013 ram 1500 crew cab Laramie. I was headed to the rv dealer to buy the white hawk 28dsbh...I stopped at cat scale with fuel tank full and wife and 3 and 6 year old sons and weighed it...6380lbs....gvwr is only 6800....checked door sticker and I had a whopping 1061lbs payload. Tongue weight alone (nothing in the back if the truck) would have out me well over...I was not happy. Highly optioned rams 1500's have horrible payload....I solved it by ordering a 2014 ram 3500 cummins....that trailer is too much for a ram crew cab 1500 IMO. Mpg would likely be 8 or so too

For those that say a 7500lb 34 ft trailer tows great behind a ram 1500 with coil springs is fooling themselves. Likely have not towed with a hd truck to truly know the feeling of "tows great".

Thumbs up

Well I have towed our older TT with a ford f250 with the 6l diesel. I did not notice much difference. We upgraded to our Ram 1500 and towed the TT with no problems, then we traded it in for the Whitehawk. I do realize that the coils were not the best so I added the Timbrens. I could have swapped out the coils for heavier ones but I like the ride. Overall with 390 horsepower and 400 plus foot pounds of torgue our Ram is doing just fine.

No...my truck had 1061lbs payload per door sticker...with fuel and family I had 420lbs left before hitting gvwr of 6800lbs for tongue weight and anything in the bed....no way around it that trailer was far too big for my 2013 ram 1500 crew cab as the tongue weight likely would have been around 900-1000lbs itself (7000 x .13 or .15)

Mike,

IMO a 1,000lb loaded tongue weight (or heavier) is very possible on the 28DSBH, depends on one loading habits.

A 28DSBH "loaded" at 6,500lbs with a recommended 13% to 15% loaded tongue weight range = 845lbs to 975lbs. Two JOF members noted that their 2014 model 28DSBH's had a shipped from factory UVW of 5,943lbs & 6,001lbs respectively, I added just 500lbs for cargo.

The 28DSBH has a 7,500lb GVWR, so there is still room for an increase in tongue weight from my 6,500lb loaded TT example above.

Just a side note, many folks experience enhanced TV handling of the longer and heavier TT's towing at a 15% loaded tongue weight.

Bob

On Edit: JOF member 'Drysok' posted that his 2015 model 28DSBH had a shipped from factory UVW of 6,071lbs...., so 6,000lb UVW seems to be the weight to start with.

I will have to check those weights again on the door sticker , But from the sound of it , It look's like all I can tow with this 1/2 ton truck is a pop up TT
