Here are some Pics of my ladder MOD

I made this ladder from some Birch I had in my shop. It is 3 rungs, painted dark brown to match the wood stain. I tried to match the stain, but it was birch and good luck with that. So here it is - I attached it to the corner 2x2 and the 2x2 that supports the door. It was what worked best for us. My 6 year old and my father in law both used it.

Folding Ladder for 213x

Are you very handy with a miter saw?? I built fold-up ladder for our 213x from hardwood trim and wood from local lumber store. Folds up when not in use. Velcro straps are for travel and there is a magnetic catch to hold it in place otherwise. I have used it myself to climb-up to the bunk so it is fairly strong. I can sketch up some plans if you are interested.

Good luck with the ladder search!!!

That is a very nice ladder. Could you please supply plans. How much weight can it carry?

I'll get back to you on plans next week - I can't get to the trailer till the weekend to measure. Its not used a lot (kids are adults, grandkids are a bit too young for top bunk) but a couple of us 200lb adults have been up down it a few times. I used clear grained oak - especially on the treads for strength.

Plans for foldup ladder for x213

Rob's Ladder!!!

Here are sketchs of plans and a few more picture details. The ladder is 1" shorter than the ceiling to clear the curtain track and also to allow room to tilt the completed ladder into place. You may need to fit the bits together from the bottum up and when complete trim the top flat if the pieces do not line up perfectly. Good luck!!!

Here are images of the rope ladders that I made and installed in our new X254. They are light weight and allow for the upper bunks to be folded up without impact. Our youngest two kids are too little to be climbing up to the top bunks. To prevent that, we just swing the ladders up to the top bunk to eliminate access.

To make them, I bought about 28 ft of 3/8 in polypropylene rope and two deck railing ballusters. I had the stain, polyurethane, and clear tubing already, so my total out of pocket cost was $17.

During our first trip last weekend, they worked great.

We almost got one of the X213's... The TOP BUNK doesnt really have much room on it with the slope of the trailer top. The couple I have seen on the road usually just used the top bunk for storage.

my 7 year old climbs up no problem... the bunks are much bigger on the x213 than they were a few years ago.

Our 8 Y.O. Son chooses and loves the top bunk. We use the lower bunk for storage. He even prefers to sleep with his head at the far end behind the bathroom. They are twin size beds, and seem plenty big for kids. He can get up there without a ladder but I bought one anyway. Easier and safer to get down and to make the bed. I still can't believe they don't come with ladders or the light/fan for the king slide.

I can't believe there isn't a window for the top bunk. I find it gets warm up there when my 5 year old is sleeping for a few hours. I generally leave the curtain open after we go to bed so they get lots of fresh air.
