X254 / X213 Travel w/bunks up?

Hi,

I just got an X254 and I'm assuming it's okay to travel w/the bottom bunks latched in the up position (one of the reasons we got it was the storage there) but the latches don't seem super sturdy so I want to confirm before we take our first trip. This is our first camper so I'm new to this. Also anyone with either model have good storage ideas/mods?

Thanks!

We've traveled with the bunk up on our 2011 since we bought it. But the bunk has usually been partially supported by two bicycles that we store in this area. We have made a few trips when the bikes have been left behind and I have not had any problems with the bunk being up.

I also have a EXP 213. My lower bunk has a strap that holds it up. It works fine. I bought a large storage box with wheels that fits through the side access door. I keep a lot of camp items in it. I also bought a smaller box to keep my sewer hose and attachments in. Very handy. It all fits in the space fine. It also leaves a lot of space for other items. folding chairs, dog crate (large) etc.... It is a great space for storage will traveling. I tend to keep bikes in back of truck.

Thanks for the reply? We're thinking of doing the same thing. How do you secure the bikes?
