Question 120V Wiring Problem

Get to the CG last night to find that we don't have 120V power to the dinette side of the trailer. Per the electrical schematic from Jayco, there are two 120V circuits, once GFCI protected, one not. The issue is on the non-GFCI circuit. Everything on the GFCI works as it should. This is a new issue as everything worked last weekend.

I've confirmed that the breaker is good (it has continuity) and I also swapped it out for a different one, in a different place on the board, temporarily, but still no joy.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Rob, try checking the receptacle itself. You should be able to put some VOM probes on the wires themselves to see if they're hot. Be careful! When I changed out my dinette for a table and chairs, I had to rework the receptacle and I found the wires are just pressed into place, not screwed down, so the potential for an open connection is probably higher.

If you are on a 50 amp breaker at the campground, reset it. Sometimes 1 side does not make good contact. I have had that happen.

I would check continuity or voltage, whichever you prefer, at each wiring jct point such as breaker and receptacle terminations. Has to be a wiring issue if you have a good breaker and voltage on the wiring leaving the breaker.

For a few bucks a tester like this will narrow things down pretty quick. it will tell you whether or not you have power at all, open neutral, open ground, reversed polarity, etc.

Thanks all for the responses. We had power coming from the breaker to the first junction box, but nothing from there. Worked with the dealer to troubleshoot this morning and nothing doing there either. Just got back from dropping the TT off with them so they can find and fix the issue. Thankfully the TT is still under warranty.

I'll let you know what the final outcome is once we get the TT back - we've been promised next weekend.

Smile Problem Solved

Got the TT back already and turns out it was a loose wire in a 'hidden' junction box. The box doesn't show on the wiring diagram I got from Jayco, and the only way to see, let alone access it, is to take out the propane detector. I had also reached back into that area and didn't feel the box, so it's really buried. Knew it was probably something simple, but don't feel too bad as it took the dealers wiring expert 1.5 hours to find the problem too.

As a preventative measure I'm going to go through and add electrical tape to all of the wire nuts in the TT so don't run into this again.
