32" rca lcd tv

My 2011 Jayco came with a 32" TV labeled as an RCA. I've gone through the menus and the owner's manual attempting to find out how to adjust the backlight level. Anybody know how to do this on this TV?

We have an RCA in our '08 TT. Don't know if RCA has changed the procedure since then or not but this is how it works on ours. Press Menu. Push the down arrow key. This should bring you to the next 'page' that includes Contrast, Brightness, etc and Backlight. Press OK or Enter. This will highlight something. Then use the up or down arrow keys until Backlight is highlighted and press OK or Enter. Then press the left or right arrow to decrease or increase the backlighting. Press Clear to exit the Menu. Hope this works for you.

Thanks for the reply, wiscampsin. My menu just does not have the choice for adjusting the backlight.

I'll have to do an deeper Google search and see if I can turn up something. I suspect that there is a service menu that would allow the backlight adjustment, if I can find out how to access the hidden service menu.

RVhiker... have you tried searching for the model #? Sometimes, you'll find better user guides or others who are trying to shoot the same bug.

RVhiker,
Sorry it didn't work. What's the model # of you tv. Reason I ask is I did a search, on RCA's website and they list three 32"ers, one with built in DVD. I downloaded one of the manuals for a non DVD one and I read thru it. No mention of Backlight adjustment anywhere, not even in the advanced settings.

Thanks for checking the manuals; I am surprised that in advanced settings on any LCD TV there is not a way to adjust the backlight. There may still be a way, though, in a hidden installer menu that has to be accessed with some "secret" keystrokes.

My RV and I are temporarily separated, but I'll post the model number when we are re-united.

You need to get to the screen menu OSD then go to picture settings. Select picture and click the arrows to the right of the word picture. A drop down menu will list brightness, contrast, color, tint and sharpness. That should be you what you need. Also sometimes the quick selection menu with color temperature can get you where you want faster.
Your custom setting will only be in the USER selection if you have a color temperature chosen though.

The model number of the TV I'm asking about is 32LA30RQ. It's not made by RCA it's made by the ON corporation; they just use the RCA name. Jayco sold it to me along with my new trailer.

I downloaded a PDF of the product manual. I searched for the term "backlight" in the manual, and it is just not there. My main reason for wanting to adjust the backlight is to reduce the level and thus the power consumption (useful when boondocking).

For the curious, here is the manual. Incidentally, this TV does not have a signal strength display -- a bit of a problem when in RV use.
