We have the dual shades- sun filtering and room darkening. They are fastened to the wall and do not seem to unlatch in any way. The darkening shade does not retract to the original postion. Anyone have any experience with adjusting?

You have to remove the valance to get to the shades. They adjust just the like "old fashioned" window shade. Pull it down part way, take it out, roll up the excess fabric and put it back in.
