Marine Vinyl is supple, UV resistant, and available in many colors. Gray is readily available. Grays will blend in with many colors when used for exterior patching. I have on occasion added an extra patch to an otherwise undamaged similar area (opposite side) for symmetry. It can help to make the repair less obvious. I have also been successful in applying repairs and reinforcing patches to the inside of fabrics where color match is less an issue.
Marine Vinyl is used for boat seat cushions. That is tougher service than most tent fabric will ever see.

A local sail loft will also have sticky back. That is a fairly heavy self adhesive Dacron cloth which is used for wear patches on sails. It sticks very well and is durable. Typically it is only white color though. Most sail makers will sell small pieces at decent cash price to walk-ins
A marine store may have some vinyl, but a fabric store will likely have a better selection.
