Awning Release

Is there a way to release the awning on my Jayfeather so you can roll it up if it quits half way up. It clipped off a wire by the drive motor and needs to be manually rolled to get home

I assume a jumper wire can't be spliced in where the existing wire was clipped off.

If you have a Solera awning this might help:

The jumper wire that comes with the "kit" supplied with the awning can be powered with a 20 volt drill battery..

No kit no instruction manual Jayco refused warranty on awning so the fight is on as I am an old bugger but still enjoy a good fight even if I lose.

Ah, a little confused here....., is this the second time the wire was clipped? You referenced a similar issue back on August 18th and that you used a set of jumper wires & 12v battery to roll it up...

Hi Rustic and only clipped once but today I learned Jayco would not cover fabric damage from drive home. I tied up the arms but was no way to roll up awning as no release so it was locked half way up. Jayco itself confirms there is no way to release the lock as the awning stays put where ever it stopped. Now they will not cover the damage to the fabric that occurred on the drive home even with the arms tied up. That battle is just getting started. I can not imagine that there is no way to roll up the awning manually when there is a problem. I am looking for tips on how to get Jayco to warranty this as unit only 18 mos. old with a 2 year warranty? Sorry for the confusion.

Go get'em Chet, I'm on your side. Nothing like a good brawl to get the blood flowing! This is poor customer service for a defect that you have been forced to deal with.

Got a call today and Jayco will replace the awning at no cost to me after I requested they review the claim. Parts are ordered and win b repaired when they arrive. Thank you very much Jayco, it is appreciated and why we always buy Jayco.

Did you ever post the brand of the awning? Great that they are stepping up and fixing it.

I have no idea what brand it is. No name on it, no manual, no nothing.
