Back up camera

Just finished installing the Hopkins wifi camera, was an easy install, and works great. I hooked mine to the running lights, I keep mine on all the time anyway, could have hooked to the backups the wire is already there, but wanted to be able to use will driving. I installed on a Talon 5er, in the factory location where the furrion camera is supposed to mount. For less than $100 dollars with Good Sam discount at Camping World, and I have iPads and Iphones already for the app, it was right choice for us. At the price, I may get a couple more, to mount on the sides for observation cameras.

Since it works thru the camera portion of the iOS device, you can take a photo, or video at any time. As soon as I get a chance I will post some pictures of the resolution from the camera, oh, and it also has a multi level led light built in that you can control from the phone, or iPad. Range away from the camper is 100 feet or so.

The first picture is 5 feet back from camper, the second one is 40. Pretty good for the price I think, and I didn't have to install another monitor. I don't know how they compare to the Furrion system, but for the same price I can have 4 wifi cameras. Was going with garmin when I found this one, but garmin is still $140 for the camera plus the cost of a gps that it will work with. I will get a night picture and post it. A side note, I have the camera pointing down as far as it will go, may add one to the bumper to watch tires on boat trailer if I decide to triple tow. Thanks for any comments, or insights, good or bad. First ever online equipment review, great site thanks for all the good information.....

Almost forgot, it is a mirror image, so what you see on the left of the screen is in fact on the left side of the truck.

Nice! Just keep in mind, things are much closer than they appear. I have a hard time determining exactly where the end of the TT is in the mirror when passing someone and on the camera I can see when I'm passed, but need to give myself plenty of room before moving over.

Not going to use it for driving, just backing into questionable camp sites, pulled 45's grossing 80k no problem with this one on the road, convex mirrors on pickup curb side are terrible for depth perception, changed the glass out in mine.

Ah, that's good, you have experience with that. I told my DW that I really wanted this camera for driving. It's nice for backing up, too, of course.

Back up camera

One other thing is there’s a slight-moderate video lag. It’s never perfectly constant and sometimes the feed can delay maybe a full second. We have a Voyager WiSight WVOS541 and found it to have about 1/2 sec delay when feeding steady. Not sure if anything via radio waves is faster than that, which why some favor a wired connection.

Edit-I’d love to have a pair of these at both rear top corners pointed down to monitor against tail swing. We have gone through a tail swing contact experience 90 days into our adventure. Scraped a Cadillac Escalade. 15K damage.
