Bad TV amplifier wall plate...???

The TV wonít pick up any channels just a few miles from downtown Houston after repeated scans. Since this hasnít happened to me before I assumed the fault is with the TV. So, the next step was to try to isolate the issue. I then purchased a cheap indoor antenna from wally-world. On the next scan I got channels and removed the antenna input from the back of the wall plate and routed it directly to the tv.

Voila! It seems as if the wine guard amplified wall plate thingy quit working, but Iíve never heard/read of it happening to anyone else. I donít have a ladder with me currently to inspect the coax at the antenna, but it would seem to not be an issue as I AM getting channels.

Has this happened to anyone else on here before? Iím sure Iím not the first person this has happened to.

Only time I had an issue was when the amp was turned off. We got no channels OTA

Ironically, if I turn the amp on the coverage stops...
