Bad TV amplifier wall plate...???

The TV won’t pick up any channels just a few miles from downtown Houston after repeated scans. Since this hasn’t happened to me before I assumed the fault is with the TV. So, the next step was to try to isolate the issue. I then purchased a cheap indoor antenna from wally-world. On the next scan I got channels and removed the antenna input from the back of the wall plate and routed it directly to the tv.

Voila! It seems as if the wine guard amplified wall plate thingy quit working, but I’ve never heard/read of it happening to anyone else. I don’t have a ladder with me currently to inspect the coax at the antenna, but it would seem to not be an issue as I AM getting channels.

Has this happened to anyone else on here before? I’m sure I’m not the first person this has happened to.

Only time I had an issue was when the amp was turned off. We got no channels OTA

Ironically, if I turn the amp on the coverage stops...

Guess the wall plate amplifier was bad. Replaced it and the sensor with a rayzar z-1 and now I’m receiving 110 channels.

Case closed!
