Battery Tender Question

Installed two new batteries in my seldom used diesel TV. I have a new battery tender and want to put one alligator clip on one battery and the other clip on the second battery. the clip wiring it is just long enough to do a regular battery. Any suggestions as to how I can extend probably the ground wire and its alligator clip the several feet to allow it to reach the other battery? I'd like to avoid cutting and splicing if possible. Or should I forget about splitting the wires and just clip to one battery? Thanks for your suggestions.

I installed this in my TV, leads are long enough for both batteries. Each get they’re own 4 amp lead but not needed because the batteries are connected together on the truck. I also used the NOCO Plug for a clean install, I also use one on the DS Bumper for the block heater.

Don't forget they are in parallel and not series so if you connect both to the first battery the second one will charge also.

Those leads should be long enough to reach? I think they were close to 6’ long….

I understand that but I have read a couple posts that suggest you get a more even distribution of power if you hook up to the two batteries. Perhaps the best answer is just hook up to one as they are brand new batteries.

My NOCO gen 2 has leads for EACH BATTERY. 4 amps to each battery … total of 8 amps. I just measured the Gen 2 I have in the shop, the leads are 75” long.

Are the two batteries connected in parallel straight together? Is there any kind of isolation switch between the two batteries that only energizes and connects the two batteries together when the ignition is turned on?

If connected in parallel with no isolation switch, you can just connect both alligator clips to one battery. Your tender will see both parallel batteries as a single combined battery.

No switching between, just to standard hook up for a 7.3 diesel. And I have alligator clips on one battery. All seems okay

When I run a single tender to maintain multiple batteries, I'll often check the voltage on the other parallel batteries to make sure they're connected. If the second battery--the one with no alligator clips on it--is at the proper charge voltage (14v+ or so) or at the proper float voltage (about 13.2v) then I know it's seeing voltage from the maintainer.
