Why do I keep getting this message when trying to setup a new account?

Credential implementation provided to initializeApp via the "credential" property failed to fetch a valid Google Auth2 access token with the following error: "Error fetching access token: Could not fetch URI /computeMetadata/v1/ instance/service-accounts/default/token

Because the cloud access has been down since the CloudStrike issues weeks ago. Discussed in several threads on this forum.
